Battlefield 2

Okay ... applied patch 1.3 and then set BF graphics to various settings and then settled on :
- Card : Gigabyte PCI-E 6600GT 128MB RAM
- PC MEM : 1GB DDR2 6ns dual channel interleaved
- PC CPU : 3Ghz Intel P4 HT
- Everything except for Advanced Shadows and whatever is above that on High [the 2 options that remain on medium when you choose the high config are on medium].
- 4x Anti Alias
- 800*600 32bit 85MHz

No noticable problems and looks really nice.
Will try the textures up on high tonight ... config testing time ran into my play time last night

doobi ... when I played on medium settings that was my resolution and the only difference I could see was the time it took to load was longer. While having stuff on high is munch more prettier.

/me ponders going to an eye measurer ...

@Durango - youbetcha!!! If I could bill for all the man hours I've lost to this game, I could retire . . . ;) It has it's sore points here and ther, but by and large it's an awesome game.

@ stoke - fair point about load I never considered that. I have two issues - 1 at higher res you're more accurate at distance - ie sniping with the Scar-L, but secondly I have a 1280x1024 LCD, and running it lower REALLY looks c@rp.

@Durango - one hour of play and you'll be hooked for life .. don't do it.
There's something so unreal about you and a group of peeps you know slightly blasting other peeps to smithereens and helping each other and ... it's awesome !

@doobi ... aaaah ... see now .. you're going for the 1 pixel = 1 lcd light resolution .. that makes sense. I'm still a CRT'er.

hoosyerdaddy?

ohkay, so you guys are hooked. Question, a few years back a few mates incl me went down to a local internet cafe to play Counterstrike. We were hooked and played competition. Weekin...weekout...sameold-sameold. Then progressed on to 1942 and every other 'saving pvt ryan' game in its following. These mates of mine are still there evry monday nite...years later. Is this another one of those ? Or are you guys gaming at home via LAN or Internet ?

I don't know if they serve BF2 at internet cafe's actually.

We all play from home via ADSL or ISDN128 (dial-up won't do) There's in game VoIP so it's a bit more social than CS. There's also a "Gaming League" company - Big League Gaming I think, the links here somewhere that runs proper competitions.

The gameplays more varied than CS so I find it doesn't get old so quickly, and there's the armoured core Pack coming out shortly Mmmmmm . . .

CPT.Durango - I hav'nt played online yet (still waiting to telscum to install my line), but so far i'm quite impressed
