So if they have ads in the game then why are they still selling at the normal PC game price ???.

Do they think gamers are that stupid.

Installed the game and there were no little messages telling me anything about ingame ads. Tried connecting to an int server and in the 5 secs I was there before being kicked i didn't see any ads.

Other info indicates that they would use your IP address to determine which country you're from then add ads applicable to you. Eg. French ads if your in France etc.

Whatever happens will happen in the next month or so.

Now all I need is a server that doesn't kick my @$$ for high ping.

Do you think your firewall or antispyware software would pick it up?

Or then again, its probably embedded in the BF2.exe so all of BF2 will be allowed to access the net.

Nawty nawty. EA sux ballah

Why couldn't they just make it static ads, that would have been acceptable, BUT NOOOOO, they want to have it be interactive, I hope they fail with this game, I wanted to buy it to get into the battlefield scene, Long Life CSS...

This is a distgusting revolution, as little as it may bother some of you the principle of the corporate sticking its big fat polony into the fantasy atmosphere of a game is distgusting. The whole cathartic pleasure of escaping reality gets a bit difficult when u have propaganda everywhere. "Head shot - try panado" blech:sick: EA have always been a scummy bunch of thieves, they just consume talented artists and pump out trash games. Where is dungeon keeper 3, oh wait, bullfrog is gone, remember westwood studios and activision [the real activision]? Phenomic hardly got started. The list goes on. The worst thing is that EA is even making crapy sequels and expansions of its own games, especially sports games like fifa, nba live, etc. If people were tempted to buy originals for the sake of supporting the art, they definitely won't for electronic arts.

PS I just read that bf 2142 has a patch that requires the removal of an XP sucurty update *sigh*

Hit the nail on the head. I think the last EA game i bought was BF2 and now its gathering dust coz I found other real games to play. Sadly if people keep buying EA games based on hype they will keep making rubbish.

agreed. and this is how it starts... first this little bit, then how long until game play is interrupted to break to commercials?

Mine does already. It's called LAG :D

I wonder which takes preference wrt bandwidth in this game : The ads, or the actual game?

Also, if they're downloading the ads from an European server, it surely will add some LAG??

Well, since there's no ads in our local server it doesn't really matter to us. And while the other int. players in the US and Europe ave to put up with it they do have the advantage of having way better broadband then us.

yeah with local ads like. An APC with a DooM ad on it ... " Quick Fast and Deadly"

Or even when you look through the windscreen of the Buggy or Jeep you will have a "Dail-Direct" sticker on it .. or maybe a " Do Not Tow This Vehicle - Covered by AA"
