Ive always been a fan of the BF series and unfortunately I dont game much anymore so it would be a huge waste to spend 10k on a rig and not use it.

So, I want to play BF3 but my system is a little outdated. Its pretty much handled everything up until now but I want to enjoy BF3 when its released so im looking for a quick win.

I have:
Q6600
8800GTS 320MB
3Gigs DDR2
etc

It goes without saying that my gfx card is the biggest let down. Will grabbing a 2nd hand 285GTX or similar help a whole lot or is there some sort of bottleneck? SHould I get an extra stick of RAM or brand new paired 4gigs? WIll theses be the 2 quickest wins for me to get some decent performance?

This game is going to cost me a lot of money I can just see it :(

Get a 6870, everything should be fine but your vga card is going to take a beating, even a 6850 will do. Ram and cpu will be fine i highly doubt bf 3 will use 4gb but with memory being so cheap just go grab 2 4gb sticks for 500 bucks or something or leave it and see.

They updated the recommended specs.

http://stagegeforce.geforce.com/Game...-3/GPUAnalyzer

GTX 560 = high quality 1680*1050

GTX 570 = high quality 1920*1080

GTX 580 = ultra quality 1980*1080

I just upgraded my foundation to an i7 2600k and 8GB RAm on an ASUS ROG mobo. Graphics card is a 5770. Will see how the system handles BF3 before I think of upgrading the GFX.
