Battlefield 3

I don't understand your problems but then maybe the game installation is doing weird stuff. On my install my BF3 directory is under Origin games and on my son's it is under Electronic Arts. Go figure. Both bought at the same time. Maybe the difference is that I also dl'ed the demo.

I did the patch DL once and then copied by BF3 directory to my son's machine. Did a repair and it did do a dl but from the harddrive. It went through in about a minute. And then it did the patch - again, quick sticks. It had asked for install language and all the rest.
 
Anyone know what time B2K becomes available tomorrow?

If i am correct, the Map Pack is coming this week 14Dec. So what is the size on this one, because they said the 6Dec patch will be 2gig and when i download it, it was 3.9Gigs. I also hate Origin, just because of the downloads. When you pause the download then resume it, then it start from the beginning and when the iburst connection is full of sht, then you start from the beginning. Steam is so much better then Origin.
 
I'll have to check when I get home but I'm sure I saw 4 maps in the Xpack1 folder.

Meaning you won't need to download anything else again. Maybe just a very small patch to open up the maps.
 
Okay! Guys, I have kept on seeing this 3.9gb patch, I myself did a 3.9gh patch, but what I noticed was that my 1mbps line was 'downloading' at a speed well above theoretical... I was downloading at 190kB/s which is more like a 2mbps line... And no, my line is not syncing at 2mbps. It sync's at 1.

The only answer is that while the files may well have been 3.9gb, I am almost certain that they were compressed. So I believe the actual download was +-2gb and when unzipping it became 3.9gb.

Does that make sense? There is no ways I was downloading at 190kBps on a line that has never gone above 112kB before...

yes the "levels" directory of the patch contains 4 "Levels"
and the directory it 2.7 Gig
 
Getting really frustrated.

Game freezes in whilst changing maps, don't know if its the new patch (likely) or because I have added a 2nd monitor (unlikely)
 
Just bought the game and I've heard about this Origin privacy policy nonsense, and I'm reluctant to install it =/

Can anyone tell me their experience with it? I think that it's really messed up.

Not quite sure what u mean. Are some of the terms of the privacy policy a bit dodgy?

Dude honestly all this privacy kuk is rubbish, what do you have that you won't want people to get?

I promise you EA will not steal your credit card details and sell them online. You should perhaps disconnect your internet in case big brother is watching you :p

Silly question brawler but have you tried it without the second monitor?
 
freezes as in you get that black screen yet you still hear the music?

I have also had that a few times and usually with me, after I "task manager close" BF3, I just run it again and most of the time it sorts that out.

@killa all my HD prawn is going to get ditched :D

Having the exact same problem, not using a second monitor though. Game freezes on the loading screen on map change. Stupid fix that works (if you remember to do it every time) is to alt+tab as soon as the round is over, and then to alt+tab back into the game when the next map loads. Personally this issue is making the whole battlefield experience very frustrating.

Had some awesome rounds in Rush last night with Skaapbal and Widowmaker308 (spiderz). Although we did get pawned a few times. Especially when the twit driving the tank was blasting the **** out of the building we were using for cover.
