Battlefield 3

Fark me...

Is it just me or do these maps look insanely big?

The GFX is sick, what GPU you need to play it? anyone got the specs yet?

I was getting good frames on max in the alpha... so I'd say similar to BC2.

So BF3 won't have a server browser on PC but consoles will have server browsers.

This story is a little surprising. BF3 Blog have done the legwork on this: first they spotted that Battlefield 3 on the PS3 and 360 is going to have an in-game server browser for multiplayer game-finding. Good for them. However, where this story turns sour is the news that the PC version will not have any in-game server browser, and to find a multiplayer game you have to exit the game or Alt-Tab out of it, and use the “Battlelog” application to launch games. Senior Gameplay Designer Alan Kertz has been assuring everyone that the process is relatively smooth, but why? And, if it has to be in another app, why isn’t there a server browser in Origin’s overlay? Why is there another system to complicate things? Ah, of course, because Battelog wants to be the free equivalent of Activision’s Elite thingum, with all that social and achievement stuff that you play games for.

Tune in next week for: mouse controls only on the PS3?!

Remind me again pls. When is this game due for release?

Battlefield 3 will be released October 25, 2011 in North America and October 27, 2011 in major areas of Europe.
SO sometime on, around or after those dates

That's flippen retarded. Guess they can't make the perfect game after all

The alpha was launched through a browser, it wasn't a big deal... least you can browse the net or do whatever while you wait to connect.

PC hardware enthusiast site, Modmywhat is reporting that over 20 percent of the high-end gaming PCs used to demonstrate Battlefield 3 at Gamescom over the past week have been "fried" by the game.

im a bit worried now :/

Hi all

I dont know if this question was asked or not, but will this BF3 have LAN support. I hope they do because its fun to play on lan games, especially at Local Lan's party's. It sucks to play the same old games every time and there is no new games that supports Lan capability.

will not have lan, maybe get lan on a later patch they told in a article.

Latest screen shots from www.enterbf3.com. Apparently there will be low, medium, high and ultra (as below) video settings. I am salivating ...

From what I hear about the Alpha, apparently this wasn't really an issue. The game starts and exits pretty quickly and doesn't have the dreaded 'Updating Stats' like in BC2. Still sucks that you have to leave the game and browse servers through a web browser but if its quick I don't think it will be a massive problem.

Agreed. Some key points to understand:

-The server browser/Battlelog is the main menu.

-At no point does the BF3.exe start running until you click on a server or game mode(SP/COOP) on the website. At no point is the BF3.exe running when you have left a server. Leaving a server = no more BF3 running.

-When the game "launches", it loads directly into the server. No spinning EA logos, no BF3 splash screen, no intro movie, no character login. It immediately opens up the loading screen for the server, and generally with 10-15 seconds you are picking your kit and deploying into the fight.

-When you are done with the server, you just close out, and the BF3 window closes immediately. Alt-tabbing is also instantaneous.

Myself and four of my clanmates who got into the Alpha - all of whom have played every iteration of the BF series since the BF1942 demo - agreed that this was not only the best server browser EA has ever implemented into the BF series, it might just be one of the most innovative server browser/game GUI we've seen yet in PC Gaming. Ironically, for those who complain about the whole PC v. Console issue, this is a server browser that was designed exclusively with PC gamers in mind, as it is unable to be replicated on the Xbox/PS3. As far as I'm concerned, we on the PC got the better end of the deal. It's a shame EA hasn't explained this better, because it really is a great feature. I think the doubters are going to be pleasantly surprised when the Beta launches and everyone can get their hands on it.

Edit: I also wanted to note that, for those suggesting it won't be as fast for slower computers, I am running a PC at the lower end of the scale, and it was still lightning fast for me. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 6750 @ 2.6GHz, an nVidia 8800 GT 512mb, and 4GB of RAM.
