Battlefield 3

Well, I was playing on my brothers PS3, so there are very few button combinations that could work, and I went in expecting bugs at every turn. Saying I 'figured' it out is a bit of a euphamism. I actually just thought that it either must be broken, or I'm missing a weird technique, but either way, the bi-pod is a better accessory. I only confirmed it afterwards.

The beta worked perfectly on my shaped 1Mbs line - in fact I got more lag on BC2

I know this was the a Beta, but when they first introduced the Caspian map, I was seriously concerned I wouldn't be able to play 64 player maps, due to the horrific lag. Fortunately I think it was just the one server, every other one I played on was near perfect.... the odd (expected?) bit of lag here and there....
 
This is good news, I am actually still planning to upgrade to 4Mbs, but I was really just concerned that the browser being open would take priority over the game.

I can deal with occasional lag, but if the 64 player maps run decently then I'm happy.

It really is fine bud.... most of the time it runs perfectly. I'm on a 4mb line though.... Aside from the guys in this thread, I've heard of numerous others who say it's still playable on 384k.
 
nah 1meg would be more than fine to run it.

also with the actual game servers being local, unshaped isn't that big of a deal and would be more of a luxury than a necessity.

would say before you decide finally on taking the 4meg plunge, if it would be just for BF3, rather 1st see if the 1meg is fine with the final release.

ofc in no way will you be losing if you go 4meg and you do other stuff like download quite often and such, but then you also need a 4meg ISP package.

yeah strangely enough I am also itching quite a bit now...

counting the days/hours down when I go to bed so I can fall asleep quickly... :D

Ya but it's fun when they are jealous of your pc. Dodging shoes, ashtrays etc because you will only fight after the round is also a bit difficult. You don't see em coming.

The trick i found is to download series and series and more series and then watch as much sport as you can while they wait for you to finish so they can watch the series. They don't mind you playing then :D but it only works with one tv in the house.

So BF3 releases on the 25th? But we only get it on the 28th? Or is there some way to get it on the 25th?

killa, why you thinking the 9 maps gonna be issue?

I think the game modes are once again going to add that bit of variety, as long as each mode adds a bit of flavour to the map.

one thing I hope I can get sorted in the final, which bothered me in the BETA and is bothering me in BC2:
- how things seem to "appear" as you get closer to it, if you guys know what I mean. like you would run say to a capture point, running along an 'open' path, only to suddenly see rocks 'rendering' as you get closer to it.

the mentioned 25th is usually going by US release, so yeah thinking ours will be 28th. luckily on Origin pre-order you can already pre-load from the 21st, so plenty of time.
 
I want tons of maps so when i play bf 3 as a second job i don't get bored :D

Let's see, finish work at 5, eaten and soccer bets done by 6:30 bf 3 until 12:00ish all week days.

Weekend could be 18-20 hours so ummm variety would be awesome and yes i won't have a life but i will save plenty moola not joling :D.

I think that only happens when your graphics can't cope, at least i hope that is the case cause if it's not rendering in front of you from distance how is it rendering enemy? I am going to get it on origin even though i bought it from the store. Want it early without standing in queue at midnight. I will donate the key to somebody who cannot afford the game though.

you can it 25th , by vpn to usa, so it will detect you stay in usa, then you should be able to play on 25th, though allot of effort to do :P

Tell me on origin there is only the limited edition will that give me the four maps?

yeah the Origin version gives you the 4 maps plus those weapons.

see Stoney said that makes it 13 total which is bit better than 9.

pretty much any place we order now from, will include those maps.
