Battlefield 3

Dude seriously the W/L stats is a bunch of bull****, as long as you tried to help the team who gives gives a shyte whether you won or loss :p

What are you talking about killa!?
Win/Loss is THE single most important stat in bf3 :P

Bf3 stats is years ahead of battlelog! The amount of detail and info available is insane. The most useful feature for me is the periodic stats feature, where you can view your k/d, spm, accuracy etc within a time period to see for example whether the new gun you are trying improves your skills or not.

For example, over the last 24 days, my spm has been 670. But in battlelog its still 540. This info lets me know that I am infact improving in the way that I play and that my overall spm is getting pushed up. So if I choose a different weapon or kit to experiment with, I can see my stats for just that time period to determine whether its a wise choice or not.

You have to be careful how you read SPM, though. Medals are included in this. It could just be that more medals were unlocked over that period, which bumps up your SPM. It is also why you should expect your SPM to increase since you started the game (learning curve aside). It takes a while until you start unlocking medals, which means your SPM should increase even if your skill level stays constant. At some point this should level off, but that is probably after a lot of hours.

I enjoyed yesterday - we had a good run in that tank! :D LOL

Probably gonna jam some more this afternoon. Wanna get my K/D up.

So probably need to stay out of jets... LOL

HI guys. I thoroughly enjoyed BF2 on the PC and would like to get BF3 mostly for multiplayer.

Problem is I don't think my graphics card will be able to handle it. I've got a GTS 250 1Gb DDR3.
Core i-5 2.8ghz and 4gb RAM. What do you guys think? Will I be able to play it? I know it won't be eye candy, but will I be able to run it?

You might get away with it. Might be laggy as hell though. The terrain is MASSIVE.

In all honesty I don't think you'll cut it with that setup. Your CPU is okay but GPU definitely needs an upgrade and you could really do with 8 GB of ram. I've spoken to a few people who had stutters on some of the maps due to having only 4GB of ram. Once they'd upped it to 8 their performance went up a lot. Your one saving grace there is that your GPU has 1GB of memory.

Try it out but I reckon you will need to bite the bullet and do an upgrade.

They're all lying to you anyway. Especially that Flanders guy.. shifty fellow :P
A friend of mine recently got +- the same hardware as you, and he's playing BF3, it is playable, but on some maps slowdowns are present (running it all on low).

If you want to run around and shoot some stuff it will work, but in some maps, and some areas, you can see frames dropping, and experience some slowdowns / microstuttering. (not that my fps is any better on my 260gtx)

If you play at a lower resolution (something below 1080p), you should get 30-40fps with graphics set on low. Overall your experience wont be too great because the Back to Karkand maps are much more resource heavy and really bring your frames down.

If you just upgrade your gfx card you should be able to enjoy the game :) Remember that the difference between medium and ultra isnt anything drastic. So you dont need to go and spend R3000 on a new graphics card. Have a look at getting the AMD 6850 or Nvidia 550/560ti.

My advice would be to get the game, play it while saving up, and then get a new graphics card when you can.

That would be me yes xD

Bored at work. So I've now resulted to trolling the mybb forums to keep my eyes open haha

I thought microstuttering was a dual card thing, i did read bf 3 hates hyperthreading and it should be disabled to improve the feel of the game and with my setup the micro stutter disappeared.

Hmmm I'll look into it, because I still get some minor microstuttering (like im stuck on a rock) from time to time. Definitely got less when I put in some more ram to go from 4-6gb (free ram ftw! :P)

Dude, that's because you are stuck on a rock...or a brick...or a doorframe...or a pebble...or the train track at train wreck...or sometimes even nothing but the game feels that you should be stuck on something at that moment so it makes it so. Seriously, getting stuck on objects in this game is one of its major annoyances. Getting stuck on players is probably one of the worst - prime example: that annoying sniper on Damavand Peak who simply MUST lie in the entrance to the access tunnel and effectively make it a no-go zone for his entire team.

We often joke around on VOIP when it happens by saying crap like "oooh, I love playing stuck-on-pebble-field 3!" :D
