Battlefield 6 - Official Thread

"Battlefield Portal"

edit:

To break it down why this is bad - Actual game has no server browser. You need to log in to a separate service to access 'custom' games.
Custom games often have no XP, because server creators don't understand how it work or use them to cheese the game and cheat

Furthermore
As we saw in 2042

The portal SUCKS

So actually read and comprehend what they are saying before saying someone is wrong

Every BF launch sucks, ever since BF3, pre-order suckers used at stress testers for game client and servers.
I will wait until early issues with game and servers are resolved, also let reviewers get real play time under public conditions.
Not the controlled conditions to show the experience in the best light possible.

Every single battlefield since BF3 has had this terrible launch experience.

Well we have an open beta to see if its worth pre-ordering, or buying it day 1.

BF1942 was excellent. Then by BF3 they tried to copy Call of Duty. So it became more arcady with minimaps and huds and k@k. Just re-make BF1942 without the minimaps and arcady k@k. Just upgrade the graphics and expand the maps and equipment. Why did they ruin an excellent game like this?

Battlefield versions ranked in order of greatness. A lot has to do with age and time of life.

  1. BF2: Took PC gaming to a whole new level with in game VOIP and squads being coordinated by the commander. Map design was epic. Jets and Helis had high skill threshold that were amazing when you mastered them. I spent hours flying Blackhawks over Mashtuur city talking to friends while being heavily intoxicated with Jack Daniels. Varsity marks suffered.
  2. BF1: The most immersive of the series (particularly the audio) and everything was close to perfect. Enjoyed the setting.
  3. BF2142: Similar to BF2 but added future theme which was fun and epic Titan mode which I still dont understand why they dont do something similar again with aircraft carriers or something.
  4. BF3/BF4: Good but I don't remember much. Levolution was cool. Maybe a bit too COD like. Operation metro and all that kak.
  5. BF Bad Company 2: Fun but no jets and smaller maps.
  6. BF1942: I still remember how shocked I was when I first played it. Map was HUGE for the time but our internet wasnt ready.
  7. BF5: Disastrous start but was fun in the end. For me the game suffered stuttering / lag which never made it feel right.
  8. BF2042: Disastrous start but was fun in the end. Pity that the community shrank due two the consecutive failed start.

Honorable mentions:
BF Vietnam: Fun single player playing with bots listening to fortunate son - didn't play multiplayer as internet was still crap in SA.
BF Bad Company 1: Console only.

Not worth mentioning:
BF Hardline: Skipped entirely.

Maps and what the community wanted was that old gameplay from the BF3 & BF$ days . Wonder if my old BF3 and BF4 clan is active on Playstation again. Huge fan of this game besides the last 2 releases. I even found local servers for BF1 on xBox but nobody was playing. I'm sure there will be local servers on full release for multiplay.

It will take another year from DICE with updates to perfect the gameplay though.

BF Vietnam taught me how to fly, BF2 taught me why to fly.

Helicopters will always be my favourite!

It had the best gunplay of all Battlefields so far (IMO obviously). The most immersive animations of all (getting in and out vehicles, being blown off your feat to the prone position). It was fun reinforcing caps with sandbags. The pacific maps were fun and beautiful looking. The sound of planes were just a treat listening to.

And your last point is 100% correct. I've played it on 2 different machines and the game has weird frame pacing and just generally never felt "smooth" despite being in the 100's of FPS. My other issue with BFV and also BF1 is they changed it so if your ping goes above 160ms (150ms for BF1) it will switch to full server side prediction, meaning that even if a player was 5m in front of you and moving, you would have to aim ahead of them like in good old Battlefield 1942 and many other games from that era making playing on EU a pain when the local SA servers were empty.
