Battlefield 6 - Official Thread

Okay just got it now. Not sure why it took over an hour of streaming but I'm in :)

Got key via Twitch and some first thoughts:
  • Had a few rounds and I must say it feels really good.
  • Feels much more complete than previous BF Beta releases. I didn't notice any bugs in the 3 rounds I played.
  • Game also feels quite well optimized. My PC is starting to age badly (i7 8700 and 3060ti) and I was getting +/- 90 FPS at 1440p low settings. Low setting still looks really good.
  • Everything seemed very smooth.

Just to reiterate the tpm and secure boot stuff. My PC did not have it on by default and when I turned it on I bricked my PC... Seems like I now need to remove gpu, update bios and all sorts.
Re: Secure Boot Mode, I'm on a B660m motherboard, I am going to have to try setting it to 'Custom', as my Windows 11 isn't picking up Secure Boot Mode as being set to On.

With my MSI motherboard when I set secure boot on it also wasn't picking it up in Windows. Turns out the default mode is 'Setup' and in order to enable secure boot it needs to be in 'User' mode, so I set it to custom and then back to standard and when I did that it asked me if I want to generate default keys and I said yes and then I saw the mode was set to User and when I booted into Windows again secure boot was enabled.

This custom mode is what broke it for me. Not the most intuitive UI in BIOS but this was the process I had to follow:
  1. Change from CFM to UEFI (easy).
  2. Secure boot was disabled because of some or other key.
  3. I couldn't apply the key unless I changed the related setting from standard to custom.
  4. I was then able to navigate to the now enabled menu and apply the key and go back and switch on secure boot.
  5. I thought job done but PC would not boot. No power to screen. Had to remove GPU and reset bios (battery trick) to get the screen to power on.
  6. I read a Youtube video comment that said if this happens I must try keep it on 'Standard'. I had to repeat steps 1 to 4 but add a step at the end to switch it back to standard after applying the keys.
  7. Again I thought job done as the screen got power but Windows was SLOW. I had to reset everything again and log in and only then I noticed my disk drive partition was MBR so I had to convert that to GPT. That finally did the trick.

All of this to get a game going? Madness

I think it's probably just my old CPU and motherboard combo from 2017. These things were new back then and disabled by default. Quite a few modern games need secure boot to stop hackers.

Its well worth it if we dont have to deal with streamers who run cheats and hacks all day long and claim they are good.

Can't say I'm particularly a fan on getting spawn killed nonstop. I think that is why I don't play FPS at all. I don't think battlefield is for me. I don't understand how someone can be like 40/0 and I'm here getting spawn killed 0/10

They did a good job with the game

It's Battlefield

But the magic of BF4 And BF1 is just not there anymore

Was properly addicted to the BF4 and BF1 gameplay

BF6 I was bored after 3 matches

Not the games fault. Guess I just grew out of the arcade shooters

I find something like Hell Let Loose much more enjoyable now

Also
Matchmaking is absolute cancer

We just don't have the playerbase for it
each new round the matchmaking put me in an empty server and I have to sit and wait for 10 minutes for it to reach minimum player to start playing

Played a bit last night, recoil/shooting is very different to the last BF i played which was BF4, guns actually sway and have recoil.

Thus making me miss most of my shots.

Graphics are really good for a beta and the performance is not bad either, game put it on high graphics settings on my 3060 and i get ~75 fps.

Still thinking if i should buy it or not, probably going to save my money for GTA VI.

On my 9800x3d and 3080 on 1440p I'm getting average 150fps, so I'll take it.
Game is actually quite fun
A few bugs but I mean it's a beta for a reason
Overall quite happy

This custom mode is what broke it for me.
<Snip>
Where does one get the required keys or is it just an option in the BIOS under Secure Boot Mode?

<Edit>
Re: Secure Boot Mode
I changed it from Standard to Custom then back to Standard.

It asked to apply the Factory keys.
And then it asked to Reset without saving.

Proceeded on all of the above and now Secure Boot Mode is 'On' in Windows 11.

The only time I got spawn killed is when I spawned on my squad leader when he ran into a group of enemies.

I have to say that the EU servers are full and I am having some truly beautiful BF moments.

I have Asus B660-PLUS and was able to activate UEFI, TPM & Secure boot in my BIOS, you should have it

Played a match earlier today, did pretty well and had good fun - felt like good old BF4 with new graphics. (Good thing as I was a huge Bf3 and Bf4 enjoyer).
Massive queue this evening. Will have a few more rounds tomorrow I reckon, but in no rush to purchase.
Not going to burn my fingers with a prepurchase.

How did you guys find the performance of the beta? I capped my in-game frame rate to 90 fps, and most of the time my fps didn't drop below that but at times on some maps, fps dropped as low as 72.

Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600KF 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
Motherboard Gigabyte B660M DS3H DDR4
Display Adaptor Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 10GB

Edit: Resolution set to 1440p, running in performance mode for the game and also for dlss, low detail because medium or higher it complained about VRAM.
