I battle with almost continuous bouts of Gout. We maybe eat red meat once a week and I will on some weekends enjoy a beer.
I feel like I'm living on anti-inflamatory pills recently. Has gotten worse over the last year.
Does anybody also suffer from this and what do you do to keep it under control.

I always fear this as I have heard it is quite painful but I have been told to drink lots of water everyday and avoid sugary drinks. Of course, if you have it then a visit to doctor is obviously recommended.

Over the counter or do you need a prescription?
Prescription. .....and ask your dr to prescribe prednisone (cortisone) and anti inflammatory for the first week or so as Puricos will cause all hell to break loose when you start taking it while having gout. In the end it works to a large extent though.

Edit, avoid starches, especially bread and yeast containing foods, and sugar as those trigger inflammation.

"Quite".
My sack! I've had attacks back in the day where I would rather have chopped off the affected digit/limb with a rusty axe than wait for the inflammation to subside

Have a look at this google result - about a potential nature remedy related to using natural salt. A good friend of mine swears by it, his gout has mostly cleared up.

^^ He says it's best (maybe essential) to include vitamin B1 with any treatment, so look for including that in the google results.

If your bouts of gout have increased recently and you haven't changed anything in your diet, then it wouldn't hurt to get a cancer screening blood test if you have the budget.

My trigger turned out to be sweets.
Once I reduced my intake of sweets and increased the amount of water I drink that helped massively.
I no longer suffer from gout after going to hospital with covid (weird coincendence but I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth).

I was Gout free for years but had an attack a month ago. Hit me in my right big toe like a motherfucker. Couldn't wear shoes for two days.

I just got and used some Colchicine. Cleared it up just fine.

It's all the **** I ate and drank over the holidays that caught up with me again.

Interestingly I recently read an article on some research on gout done in the UK. The conclusion was that gout is 90% genetic and 10% lifestyle. How that helps sufferers, I don't know. Might be valuable in finding new/better treatments in future.

Yep, the B1 usage mentioned earlier by me is related to that genetic factor of gout, in this case a problem with water getting in and out of individual body cells. Can become dangerous.

Yip, it runs in families. Our family won first place and the prize was the gene that makes us gout-prone. Little one can do about it save for trying to avoid the known triggers. Dr says my kidneys already show signs of years of anti inflammatory usage. The choice is die of kidney failure at some stage or endure gout and its crippling effects. It does rob one of all quality of life, so to die of kidney failure seem not to be that bad. I've already lost the use of some joints in my toes and fingers due to almost perpetual gout.

One dr said I have even built such a high tolerance for the pain so I do not even sometimes realise that I have gout!
