BB 9800 Torch Thread

No P ... was definately a hardware issue ... if you actually looked really close at the trackpad you would see it a hair lower on the left hand side than the right.
It was "faulty" on the official software so I thought it was a software issue and upgraded to the .284 with no luck and then back to .246 with no luck.
Definately hardware hey.

Ok. Just thought I could find out what the problem is.

I hadn't changed the software - so mine was laos hardware :/

And btw? This battery life is horrible!

EDIT : A quick Google s hows I'm not the only one either ; some guys have 6-8 hours use and others last forever. I'm the first camp :/

Mine generally lasts over 24 hours, medium usage.
I have serious concerns over build quality and stability of this phone. Whilst i love it, i have been through 2 handsets with OBF's...each one with different issues..

Hi,

What issues did u experience?

Ok, so suddenly I have this giant E when entering text in the top right hand corner..
I am sure its to indicate English...but why is it now there, and how do i get rid of it?

Go to Options, Typing and Input, Language and under ''Language switcher" select "display Icon'' to Hide.

Had the same on mine

I dont have the language switcher option?
just
Display language
Global name display
Input language
Vocie dialling language

/EDIT Ok so i dont have that option, i think its because i chose to delete all other language packs..
Done some searching, seems a backup, erase and wipe, and a restore is the answer.

/FINAL EDIT

Ok so an erase and restore doesnt work. But an erase and restore everything except the input switcher (or whatever its called) removes the stupid EN..

Does anyone else notice that the Torch battery gets better and better after every charge? I started of with barely making a full day. Then it was like making a full day and I have to play with it before I go to sleep to drain the battery so I can charge it during the night. Now after the last charge I took it off the charger yesterday morning at about 8:00 and only had to connect the charger today at about 14:30.

Also had 2 OBF's here. First was the screen, second was the slider being WAY too loose. Third one's slider is still looser than the first but not as bad as the second...

I have noticed this with almost all my phones actually

I have the Storm 2, but im sure that the idea will still be pretty similar. I went to Options >> Language and Text Input >> Language ID. Set it to hide.

Hope that helps.

I have had my Torch since it came out on MTN and haven't experienced any issues with it as yet (touch wood).

I am torn to shreds between getting the BB Torch or the iPhone 4. I have had a BB8520 since they were launched around a year and a half ago and I love it.

I've been leaning towards the Torch, but reading about these quality issues I'm now wondering if the iPhone might not be the better option.

I can order my new phone in the next week... what to do?

No one can tell you what to do. I have a Torch and it's flawless. My previous phone was a 8900. I have a iPhone 3GS and I'm not using it since I got the Torch. I use a X10mini for my secondary phone.
