Hi all,

Does anyone know when we can expect the BB 9900 Bold Touch on Vodacom? I heard MTN supposed to get it in July but now I hear rumours that the phone might be delayed globally until September.

I already have my upgrade available and I am now playing the waiting game :(

TIA

All current indications are Sept international launch, but then we might have to wait longer still for SA release. Why I'm now looking at other options as it feels as if RIM is losing the plot here. I've also read that OS7(.5) will be the last of its kind and will be replaced on later handsets by QNX ... resulting in another Symbian mess. No way I'm signing a 24 month contract to see the OS dumped early-on during this period.

Suppose you right. What options you looking at?

I'm looking at SE Xperia Pro. I hope that is available mid July. If not I might go for the XPeria Arc. The Arc is a beauty, a break-away from the flat bricks. SGS 2 might also be an option depending on price/availability. When taking out a 24 month contract one must get this choice right and atm BlackBerry is risky. But who knows, maybe I end up with a 9780 ... LOL!

I'm leaning to the 9780. The 9900 is still a bit off, and by the time it gets here the next one will be just around the corner and the whole waiting circle starts again.

9780 is a very good device Speedster as long as you accept OS 6 as where the OS upgrade road will end for you. No OS 7 because that requires liquid graphics compatible hardware (9900).

If you want to keep up with tech developments then something like the Arc will be beter.

You're a big Arc fan aren't you? Only thing is, Arcs aren't available from VC as yet.

LOL! Can't be a fan yet as I haven't had one yet. Android will be completely new to me and I haven't touched a SE device in more than six years. I just like the design and it runs the latest Android version and the hardware is sufficient. Good industrial design attracts me and the Arc just look so damn nice. Personally I'm looking at the XPeria Pro as I want/need a proper keyboard, especially coming from a BB Bold 9000.

Things ar RIM seems to be cold at present. Not going to offer new handsets in months to come, letting things slip at a very critical time for them.

I posted this in another BB thread also:

From BGR: In a note to investors on Thursday, Citigroup analyst Jim Suva cut his rating on shares of RIM stock from Buy to Hold, dropping his price target from $80 to $45. Suva had upgraded his rating on RIM shares from Sell to Buy back in February on the assumption that the Waterloo, Ontario-based company would take advantage of Nokia's plummeting market share. We believe RIMM is letting this opportunity slip, the analyst said on Thursday. Suva continued,Thus far our supply chain checks show that RIMM's new models have not yet been certified by major wireless carriers and are not in mass production, which concerns us as typically 30-40 days prior to launch new product should be in mass production. Earlier this month, BGR exclusively reported that RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone will not launch until September, despite its unveiling at BlackBerry World this past May.

I checked the MTN Direct Online store for their August specials and they don't the have BOLD 9780!!! Does any1 have the MTN printed booklet? Does this mean the BOLD 9780 is now dead? The BOLD 9700 was no longer on sale once the BOLD 3 got released. In my view the 9780 has now been rendered obsolete due to the imminent release of the NEW BOLD 9900!!!!!!!!

yes official it is but how long do we have to wait for it here in sunny sa

Soon be patient - coming out end of this month and the CEO did tweet a release date and of playbook. All happening at the same time (thinking they going to bundle the phone and playbook as a deal) and the phone as a standalone. I cannot wait until prices are out

I Have Tweeted Vodacom And Here Is a Direct Paste:

Soprono: soprono69
@Vodacom do you have a ETA on Bold 9900 ??

Vodacom: @Vodacom
@soprono69 Good news Soprono, the ETA for the 9900 is end of August. Hope this helps!

be happy, we are actually getting a phone within a month from other countries getting it, something that isnt normally the trend, bear in mind alot of the other countries are getting it around the same time, as i bealieve from leaked road-maps ranging between some reports of 8th of august to 16th of august really not that bad

Maybe the reason they bringing the phone as flagship device is to get all the BlackBerry fans to go wild to buy the device and when they actually use the device they will notice it is the same as OS 6, nothing new has changed only the hardware has been upgraded. BlackBerry have been non-stop assembling the new blackberry like over 1000 a day or more at each assembly plant.. So there will be enough stock for 252 countries getting the latest blackberry os 7 devices :)
