A new need has arisen in my tribe, for a ''smart'' phone that is good for voice calls, internet banking, email, browsing and not much else. 8ta has one on offer at R188pm including BIS, 50 minutes, unlimited calls between 8ta/TM users for a year, free SIM. Pitched against a Galaxy Pocket on a similar contract but with top-up at R98pm.

Which is ''best'' when taking the mission into account? I'm not sold on Android because of the inferior security (do your research) and it is physically smaller. User is about 50 and has no need for games, videos or music.

Any BB9320 users who can share their experience with this phone?

You can google this. The US department of Defence all make use of Blackberry because of its excellent security features. I hope this anwers your quistion. Kind regards.

What is the 50yr old going to do with it that eliminates Android because of security?

I have a 9320 , its decent enough for my emails, fnb app and some moderate browsing , does get a bit hot sometimes though, but no worryingly so.

I got it on Vodacom Topup 99, so I get R99 of calls, and blackberry service for R159 , so the phone actually cost me R1 a month
I 'negotiated' for them to give me caller Id for free, so is a good deal for me.

The keyboard will be better for a 50 year old than the touch screen, as once he/she gets used to it, the muscle memory will kick in. Have seen many old people struggling with small touch screens
