I know this isn't strictly News & Current Affairs but it seemed pretty relevant anyway. :)

Anybody seen this documentary? Just watched it now, very interesting, gives you a totally different perspective. Definitely worth watching, whatever your politics. ;)

Its on Google Video or PM me for a torrent link. Well worth the bandwidth.

699.97 Mb

I've searched DSTV and can't see them showing it again (?). It's orginally a BBC4 series.

BBC Four
Friday 20 July (repeat)
21:00 - 22:30
00:50 - 02:20 (rpt)

I've found a good site to see it on. Can anyone remind me how to 'grab' these things (to play without downloading again) on Firefox plz?

Crazy when he gets involved, praying with the president. wtf.

There's a FF extension called VideoDownloader, maybe try that? What site btw?
If it helps I can try and make it available locally, just not sure what would be the best way?

Yeah, that was seriously weird...

Yip, nice vid, like you said man, this gives one a whole new perspective. I rememberer debbie also made a thread once with some photos of normal iranian life, was also nice.

Wat strikes me as weird though is the cosmetic surgery. Widespread... sheesh, are they all born ugly over there? :D

Very but I suppose if the President asks you to pray its hard to say no.

It seems a lot less radical than places like Saudi Arabia actually, unless we have a distorted view of those places too? Just shows in any country most people are just ordinary and wanting to live their lives, its the politicians that are fscked up.

Not sure about the cosmetic surgery, they seemed to look ok. :D

I haven't watched it all (slow connection) but I did notice a bit of journalistic manipulation by Rageh Omaar.

In the opening scene he talks about Iran as if it were on another planet and how we would be surprised to see "how it really is". This is pure theatre. Any right minded person would know you can apply this logic to most countries. If you had visited Soviet Russia during the 60s, say, you would have said the same .. ie. Normal, friendly people with families and jobs going about their business.

So already I'm thinking - Rageh Omaar of Al Jazeera trying to spin this in a pro Muslim way..

People are stupid though so I suppose he's catering for them lol, he even explains Iranians aren't actually Arab and don't speak Arabic.

Its not really pro Muslim if you watch the whole thing, I don't think anyway, see what you think after watching it all. :)

We await the BBC telling us how great and secure Gazza is under Hamas :o

After all they employ Hamas members so I’m sure it will be balanced and factual coming from those sources.
.
