I highly doubt if Samsung has anything to do with this.
The fact is, RIM developed the apps, they announced a release date for both and started the rollout. This alone tells me that there were nothing wrong with any of the apps and they were ready to be used.
However, unfortunately (or should I say fortunately for them) someone inside the company leaked the Android app a few days in advance. This, according to them, caused 1.1 million users already installing the app on their devices.
Nothing was wrong on their servers, nothing was reported, until Saturday when they also started rolling out the iPhone app. They never mentioned how many users downloaded the iPhone app in NZ, or even abroad.
I think, the total sheer number of Android users, who already downloaded the app, along with the iPhone users who downloaded the app caused their servers to crash on Saturday. They, subsequently, halted and stopped both apps from being used any further.
Here are my reasons for this:
1. Why announce a launch date for both apps when they have not been completed and tested?
2. Why did they not experience any technical difficulties prior to Saturday on the Android app?
3. Why pull the iOS app when it was working?
This is just some more BS spin-doctoring going on here...
