BBM for iOS, Android gets launch window

BBM on other platforms? I'm not sure why I should care? Honestly it is like getting excited over Yahoo Messenger for Linux.

o/t, so whatsapp is cross platform and only tied to your phone number and not the OS you use. I use android now and see that it reports that since I paid for it on iPhone it stays paid up wherever I go in terms of platform & phone. That's so cool.

I will gladly use this, Whatsapp is decent and all but I HATE the last seen time stamp and that it shows me online. If I get a message from one person and don't want to acknowledge it or reply to it just yet then it means I cannot msg anybody else because I will have to go 'online' to do that. Very annoying.

And as much as I hate BB as a device and the despise the OS (haven't used 10, don't plan too either), BBM was always a very good IM client that worked well for me. I also prefer the BBM smileys to the rubbish in Whatsapp.

Lol, but they can see when you have Read (R) their message, great logic right there.

Well that sucks. Any reason why v2.3.6 aint a minimum?

Root your old device and install the latest version you can find.

I suppose it depends on the sdk version your getting, programmers can do more with a better sdk. (Most likely security)

Its the same thing with iOS6 vs iOS7. Apple upgraded the SDK alot, more features and API access (people make a huge deal out of this, its not like the other vendors don't update thier sdk's either : / )

You can preview a message without the person getting any sense that you are online though. Also the biggest advantage is being able to read one persons message without the other seeing that you are online and thinking you read theirs when you really didn't.

I also prefer the BBM smileys. Quality over Quantity.

They seem to be advertising it on radio now. Must be very close to launch date.
