I am currently doing Bsc IT at tuks second year(2016) and i have to repeat two COS modules (COS 110/121). I am really hating c++ programming and maybe programming in general. The reason i say maybe is because i also did INF 154/164 and it wasn't that bad.
I am thinking about changing over to Bcom Informatics but i'm not sure what the level of programming will be and if it will be similar to COS modules(especially the 3rd year INF modules). SO I just want some first hand experience maybe from someone who has done this degree or doing it currently.

I also chose BA Information design because I have a passion for the film/media industry(working behind the scenes or even film direction, cinematography) but finance is a problem if i choose to do this degree.

Really appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks in advance!

I completed my BCom Informatics about 3 years ago now. The programming modules are easier than that of the BSc ones. The degree is more focused on systems and the application thereof. Third year will include a large project which spans the year in which you will spec, design and build a system for a client that you have to go and find.

There are also other programming subjects until 3rd year - SQL and C#. So you should find it easier.

I'm a business analyst, but a friend of mine who also did the degree is a developer, so there's no real limitation

jman summed it up perfectly.

side note, when I was in second year, COS 261 became cos 121, and we had no tutors to help us at all because the modules were completely different.

I never passed it at all. (did not finish my degree)
and now I am working as a developer.
not one of the people who studied with me are unemployed, so you cannot really go wrong.

also, cos 121 and the C++ is just a badly managed subject. they assume you have knowledge that you do not have. I promise you will find it much easier to understand when you redo it.

you cannot really go wrong whit either option.

Yes that's true what you say about badly managed. We have made countless number of petitions and complaints but no action seems to be taken and this whole bad experience has made me hate programming. And I can't afford to fail again and with all the strikes that happened i'm pretty sure it will continue onto this year as well.

@jman what do you do as a business analyst, please share your experience with me.

From a high level, a business analyst will be involved with gathering requirements and putting them into something a dev can understand in a document form. What a BA does typically depends on the environment/domain/company. This could include getting involved in testing, investigation of production issues, even project management in some places
