BEAR Grylls, star of survival show Man vs Wild, has been fired by US cable television network Discovery Channel.
The British adventurer got the boot after a contract dispute.
Grylls, 37, became famous for daredevil adventures in remote locations, including famously drinking his own urine.
“Due to a continuing contractual dispute with Bear Grylls, Discovery has terminated all current productions with him,” the network said.
A spokeswoman for Grylls has acknowledged the split.
“Unfortunately, Bear and Discovery have not been able to come to mutual agreement on new programming, and he disagrees with Discovery’s decision to terminate current productions,” the spokeswoman said.
“Bear has loved the Man vs Wild journey and looks forward to producing further cutting edge content again soon for his loyal audience."
Grylls has made seven series of Man vs Wild and it is believed he was in discussions with Discovery about two new projects.
Critics have sometimes questioned the authenticity of some of the scenes in Man vs Wild.
In 2008, Grylls was forced to apologise to viewers after a program consultant revealed the adventurer was staying at a motel rather than in the wild.
