Ok, I'm 20 and my beard is starting to grow out but OMW is it painfull. the hair thats growing out seems to be curly which is giving me horrible acne and spots.
Any possible remedies? I look a whole lot better after a shave at the barber shop but a week later as thr hair starts growing out again it's a problem.

Could be ingrown hairs? I had a similar problem when I used to let my beard grow out, a certain spot would always be quite painful and sensitive. When my fiancée pulled out the hairs, most of them were ingrown. I have not had the problem since.

Alternatively- just shave more often. But if it's ingrown, it will still feel a bit "blocked".

If you're actually growing a beard (what I gather from your post), best thing you can do is trim it regularly. The hard part of the hair is at the tip, which is what causes the scratching/itching feeling. Trimming that off leaves the softer (more comfortable!) hair underneath. Worked for me!

Well yes, your hair keeps growing :p

So when your hair starts growing out it hurt? Sounds like ingrown hairs. Try shaving with the grain (direction your hair grows out.)

Your beard is growing out at 20??
Wow.

I used to shave at home but started getting shaves when I go to the barber as he does a muuuch better job and he does go against the grain but the problem still crops up. The one thing I haven't tried is this steam treatment shave the barber offers.

Any thing I can try for ingrown hairs?

Was thinking the same thing. Been shaving since grade 9 but I'm Indian so we tend to start early. A buddy of mine started in Grade 7 however, and he's a borderline ginger!

An illustration for those that are confused. Green means grown, tamed and already styling, red means starting up kinda..
I've had facial hair for a while but it's started growing a lot more lately.. Geez hey

Disinfect your razor before shaving with Dettol or Savlon.
After shaving, apply "Vaya" cream or the stick, it will stop the new hairs from growing in.

Don't shave against the grain of the beard, as that will tend to grow in more easily.

Pho3nix, I repped that one just because your diagram and description made me giggle.

I find that if I shave too close my skin gets irritated. So now I just use the trimmer part of the shaver. Always look as if I haven't shaven a day or two though.

I have tried this and I never get past 2 weeks. I absolutely hate the feeling.

The best feeling is once you have shaved, ahhh nice and fresh.

I started around grade 7/ 8 but it was like once a month or something, funny thing is I'm in my mid twenties now and still only need to shave once every two days
