Beard growing pains..

Use a good quality razor and change it weekly - keep clean by rinsing it under very hot water.
Use Prep shaving foam origional.
Use very hot water to shave
Shave in the direction of the hair (cheeks/chin down, neck up)
Rinse afterwards with very cold water (as soon as possible)
Exfoliate your skin everytime you wash/shower
Don't touch your face (rest chin on hand etc)
Shave/repeat every day

Your hair will thicken/get stronger and will penetrate the correct exit areas sooner.

This is what I did many years ago.

Hope you get sorted it's not nice having these issues and very damaging to self esteem and ego.

Cold water? Doesn't that close the pores?

How I feel about these ingrown hairs
doitlive5.gif

After shaving every 2nd day, the only up thing is that ingrown hairs which would appear above the left side of my upper lip have gone.

Downside:
-My skin doesnt take to kindly to shaving everyday. It feels so dry even though I dont put any pressure and moisturise frequently.
-The ingrown hairs under my chin have some what fluctuated a bit and become irritable.

So now I'm saying screw razor shaving....I'm going back to the way of the electric razor. Hopefully this time I get a real good shaver. Are there any suggestions on the best electric razor?

Which store would I get this?

Dischem. Not badly priced either. I have been using a Braun electric foil shaver for about 4 years now and I love it. Nice close shave without the annoyance of razer burn.

I will never go back to blades.

Okay went to Dischem and seems like there is whole range of Braun shavers...I didn't know which one to pick up.
I've just visited Brauns website and they recommend the 3 series. If I go for the 3 series should I also buy the clean & renew package or should I go for the 5 series?

The 380s is wet and dry, which is lekker if you shower/shave or use shaving gels

Should I get clean & renew set as well?

I was looking at buying a new Braun, I would probably go for the clean and renew. The cartridges are about R150 for 2 and they apparently last about 2 months, which is not bad.

I was looking at the 390cc. Looks like a decent one. It is only R200 more that the same shaver without the clean and renew system.

Hey everyone with shaving problems:

I'm 31 and have always battled with shaving rashes and pimples on my neck appearing a couple days after shaving. Recently I have found a solution that works perfectly for me. I thought I would share it, may work for some of you guys too.

1) Start by having a warm shower, wash your face. I use Cetaphil, very gentle and works well
2) After your shower fill the basin with warm water and re-wet your face thoroughly with warm water. Apply shaving cream/gel onto your face
3) Let the cream/gel settle on your face for a while, soak your razor in hot water at the same time to clean it
4) Run a new sink of hot water. Shave, only do one swipe at a time. Rinse thoroughly in between swipes
5) Use the razor very gently. Do NOT press firmly on your skin, let the razor do all the work (Make sure you replace your blades/razors fairly often)
6) Make sure you shave WITH the grain. Usually down everywhere and up on the neck. If you're not sure, grow your hair out a bit and check for growth patterns
7) When you're done shaving rinse thoroughly with warm water, then cold water, then warm water, then cold water, then warm water, then cold water
8) I put face moisturiser on afterwards (SPF30)

The above may seem like a painstakingly long process but honestly it is the only thing that has worked for me and I have tried so many different methods. Try it and let me know how it goes, I really hope it helps.

Been following most of the tips here and I'm looking alot better :)
Followed the shower-Exfoliate-Shave-After Shave - Moisturiser and SunBlock.. Then during the week Face-wash and I exfoliate (twice a week), toner and moisturiser.
