I am just wondering how good does beast masters do with dps and do the dammage meters pick up on pet dammage?

Nother thing how good is fake death in dungeons on wipes?
Meaining you survive all die?

Damage meters add pet damage to your damage, im a BM hunter but still gearing up.
Friend is an epic BM hunter and does about 700/800 DPS when raiding.

Feign death is the best part about being a hunter, it works for me every time :)

With the right gemming, and the a DPS rotation (Grab that DPS Macro) you should get about 900 - 1k DPS in just Karazhan Epix.

Ravager or Wind Serpents are top 2 pets in my books.
oh and Wind Serpents run on Mana Biscuits ^_^

BM Huntards do some really awesome Damage.
One of my very good mates plays as BM and he's consistently in the Top 5 for Damage Output in our Raids.
Damage Meters do pick up the pet and you can choose to Merge the Pet's Damage with the Hunters (which is typically what we do)

Whats the best way to level a pet and get training points?
I just realised i have a pet in my stable, that is on level 56 with more dmg than my current lvl 70 pet.
Whats the best way to get them leveled up?

Unfortunately once you're 70 leveling a new Pet becomes a mammoth chore.
You basically have to grind away at Mobs that award experience for hours (making sure your pet is always happy)

It's best to pick your pet while you're leveling.

I wanted a Ravager so I went and tamed on in BE. I decided leveling him was for the birds so I went into the Netherwing Mine and grabbed one already 70.

It still takes ages to get the bastard up to Level 6 Friendship so I grind on Belfs for Scryer Signets.

Well i got a bear pet and it makes a imba tank pet with most armour and HP but less dmg.
My bear has more armour and hp than some waroirs and most palas my lvl :).
My pet dueled a pala pawned him i did nothing not even heal was between them and a mage lost to my pet lol.

I had a BM hunter back when they were bad. Pre-BC. they were pretty fail back then. You *had* to be Marks.

These days BM is top-dog DPS. Thing is to really pump out the damage you need to be awake. Pet control and rotation is everything, which can be challenging on mobility fights. Any hunter can autoshot afk and do 'ok' dps but it takes that little bit extra to get into the top ranks.
Some things a hunter offers that no other class is awesome aggro control in the form of feign death, misdirect, distracting shot... a hunter who isn't retarded should *never* pull aggro and still be able to go balls to the wall dps 99% of the time.

tl'dr, top notch dps. In my little book of dps rating, they're just behind rogues and warlocks, and pretty much even-stevens with shammies, mages and dps-warriors.

p.s. trust me, you don't want a 'tank pet'. Might be nice for levelling but at 70 you want balls out dps.As BM anyway once you get some pet survivability talents a tank pet becomes somewhat pointless, they're really only for marksmanship hunters.
Get a cat. Thank me later.

Every frakin hunters got a cat.
Kinda liked the whole bear pet thing since Warcraft 3 Rexxar and Misha his bear
At 70 i may change but not now i still tame othe pets to learn new bite and claw thats all. Since i see you only get brown bear up two lvl 20 then never again the dark brown.

If you don't like a Cat take a Ravager, the DPS difference between the 2 is very small with a Ravager being only slightly better.
The problem with leveling a Ravager is that as Horde you'd need to get to Azuremyst Isle at a low level and around mid 30's to mid 50's you cannot get the different Ranks of Gore as there are no animals that you can Tame to learn those Ranks.
It's best to level with a Cat till Outland and then grab a Ravager in Hellfire.

In that case Wind Serpent for Raiding or a Raptor for Raiding/Grinding would be a good option.

The ones you find in Blades Edge look sick.

BM is the best dps as a hunter spec

Survival is actually the FOTM for EJ hunter discussions in terms of best dps

Personally I loved my Humar, that black lion from Winterspring. I also had an RFK boar for a while, and Broken Tooth before he was 'fixed' (normalised). Had a turtle for a while, amazingly tough tank pet but couldnt keep aggro, same with the polar bear I had from Winterspring. The problem with tank pets is that while they have a taunt like all pets afaik, they can't hold aggro like a dps pet can because their dps is lower, and I found myself being hit more than when i was grinding with my cat, so my xp gain was, overall, actually slower since i had to feign/disengage/trap/kite more often, and of course overall dps was lower.

Boars are awesome levelling buddies I hear, because of their charge which deals a high amount of initial threat, and they can be trained Gore now. Another option is a scorpid, although they're more of a pvp pet(high armour and stacking poison that messes with opponents' cleanes) than a pure dps pet. You could also look at getting a bat or owl, they're high dps and have a nice Screech debuff thats awesome for raiding.

Sadly, boars charge was nerfed a couple patches ago (thus the 'pet ap scaling with hunter ap' in the recent patch notes)

Boars have lost their spot of being the best for grinding :( I loved my RFK boar
