My dad just got a Telkom account (after cancelling the service months ago) for 1c. I've told him to go to the local Telkom office with 5c and INSIST on getting change. Since 1c and 2c pieces are no longer in supply, their response will be very interesting indeed...

At least it's costing them money :-)

Just imagine the amount it cost them to print the four pages, postage, etc.

Effectively, he will give them the 5c, they will mark the bill as paid, and they will give him the 5c back.

Incompetences as per tradition. The tills at pick-n-pay automatically round, but perhaps it is too much to ask from a massive billing system at a company providing ICT services.

What a bunch of losers. You should scan that bill and post it somewhere for the world to see.

Hmmm... they will probably blacklist you if you don't pay up. Incredible.

yeah this sounds familiar, i remember years ago my wife being pestered by GIDDYS ELECTRIC EXPRESS for 20c so she went in and paid them and closed her account.

Found it:

I cancelled my Telkom line in the first week of August. So imagine my shock yesterday when I recieved a bill from Telkom. I opened it up to find that I owed them the grand total of... wait for it..... R1.
....

This story was classic! :D

pay it into their bank account - I'm sure you can get a one coin, have a good few myself - they will have to pay a cash deposit fee
