Yep, Morne is a shady character. I had my run of problems with him as well.

First had my PS2 chipped and only worked for a month or two. Then sent it back. Waited for about 4 months. In the meantime he either sold my ps2 to some unsuspecting soul or just broke it. He did not return email/calls and when I eventually got ahold of him he gave me non existant tracking numbers. He always blamed the post office for stealing the stuff.

I then drove 700 km to pick it up personally. He did not have stock and had to go and buy a brand new one. It felt so good seeing him sweat. He chiped it there and then while I waited.

Alas, it only worked for a month. Sent it to defcon5, who fixed it and it is still going strong. They also told me that the person (that is you MORNE) who installed the chip was an ahole and he did not have a clue what he was doing. He also left the heatsink off and that the ps2 would have burnt out had I not sent it in time. Was this stupidity on Morne's side or was it done on purpose? You be the judge.

So, in conclusion, if you read through this thread you can see what his MO is. If you still do business with him you must be freekin disturbed.

Oh, and I had my PS2 chipped to play Japanese games.

the best service i have had for mod chips or flash kits etc. is this german supplier www.flashlinker-shop.com. you dont pay VAT for orders outside the EU with them.

the service is unbelievable with great communication, fast shipping and a sense of humour

Rather order your stuff from www.mod-chip.com .. Get it couriered and have it in 3 to 4 days ... I've used them quite a few times and had no problems.

Thats where I tried to get my PS2 chipped from, that very same web site which Morne runs! This liar and thief chipped my PS2 and i managed to get it back some months later only to have it not work at all after plugging it in. I then had to return it to him never to see my PS2 again or ever hear from Morne who never returned my calls and emails. He was like a ghost, now that i have the address of his shop and sure myself and I'd guess several hundred other people will be storming there. I've head many stories from friends of friends about this guy as well. They tried to warn me about this Morne guy from mod-chip only to tell them they are years too late. Im suprised he hasnt been arrested for fraud/theft yet or someone hasnt slammed him with a large law suit.

Then it looks like he has the audacity to carry on lying in this very forum, with excuse after excuse he just seems to stall and make up stories. The only way it seems you can get things done is to go to the shop and take what was once yours. I'd actually like to know the number of people who have been cheated by him and how much money he has stolen. I actually have 2 friends that have also been cheated by you, rest assured we will be seeing you soon...

Watch this space because my guess would be he'll close up shop at the end of the month and just vanish as he normally does.

i agree, i have no illusions about modding being good/legal etc.we all have our reasons...

i dont think anyone would have given morne business if they knew he worked out of his house or was still in school. it's all in the name mod-chip.co.za fooled me.

as for people getting what they deserve, i disagree. this is modchips/games/dvd's we talking about if i pay for something...i should get it??

This thread was mentioned on a couple of other forums as well. Just a couple of replies from the Prophecy one...

now Morne screwed us, as well as a lot of other ppl, over back then, but since then he has been providing nothing but good service to the guys on the xbox360 forums.
i really don't think it would be completely fair of me, to judge him now for stuff he did 2yrs ago. if i did, then u guys might as well start ostracizing me now for stuff i pirated back then.
yes, i'm still pissed at him for what he did then, but no, i don't think u guys should not support his business now for what he did then.
personally, i might even buy a game or two from him, just not anytime soon... although i have to admit, i'm still puzzled as to how he is able to sell original 360 games at such low prices.

This guy helped me out big time before.

When my 360 gave me the 3 red lights of doom, he contacted me and told me for R800 he'd swap out my console for a brand new one.

The unit he gave me was indeed brand new and is working 100% to this day.

I have to agree with him on this, he has always been around. There are many
an Xbox owner who purchased products from him without any hassle or
worries. There's always two sides to a story.

The fact that he may have a competitive edge on games and consoles doesn't make him a crook the people
that are the real thieves are the ones that try and squeeze you for all you have when you buy a product
from them, are you really that comfortable paying through your teeth for something you want and it's
because retailers have learnt to exploit your wants and get everything they can from you for it.

There's an expression "If you want it now, you going to have to Pay for it."

I have compared prices overseas vs. what they are sold for here and it is ridiculous as to how much we
pay for items, fair enough that import duty, shipping and other costs are worked into the selling price
but for some reason ZA companies normal markup figures tend to out wieght the overhead costs in the
prices that you pay so willingly just to stay ahead of the rest and be the first one in you neighbourhood
to have one.

If Morne has found a loophole to sell items for less, increasing his turnover, giving him a edge then good for him.

Fiar enough maybe the customer service issues need to be addressed but other than that I don't see a problem.

www.mod-chip.com is a German based company (not Cape Town based) ... I've never had issues and they're really fast.
