BEE rules are getting stricter

The rollout of the updated B-BBEE codes coming into effect from May 2015, is much stricter in its scoring and implications for business owners than the older codes, Outsourced CFO writes.

Reverse apartheid updating their firewall?

In my dictionary BEE means Bullshyte Economic Excuses.

It's why I'm asking the question... there were proposals to amend the definition that would exclude "Coloureds, Indians and Asians" from the "Black" classification.

That's unfair.
They should scrap BEE now....

The department of education has taken African languages out of the critical skills list for high School.

It's not so much about colour but who was discriminated against under apartheid. They can try and amend the definition but the courts will rule against them if they exclude others. The more concerning thing is that the ANC will try to exclude people of 'colour' and only serve 'african blacks', says a lot about them & what we can expect down the line.

SA citizens of chinese decent did not qualify for BEE but were classified as 'coloured' under apartheid. They took the gov. to court and they won their case. http://www.southafrica.info/business/trends/empowerment/beechinese-180608.htm#.VR5WDZ_7LY0

Just don't do business with the government. I'd rather run my business into the ground before I ever comply with BEE.

At a stage during Apartheid more than half the budget was allocated to homeland development and black interests at a time that blacks were paying no or little tax. There were however job reservations for whites in the state departments. If it were reverse Apartheid one would expect the majority actually doing something for the minority as well rather than a one-way take-all approach.

And now for the billion rand question...

What is the definition of BLACK?

Black isn't a colour in this case. It is the IQ.

Fun fact, did you know that Chinese score BEE points?

There was a long thread the other day about what the legal definition of black is. The conclusion seems to be that there is no objective legal test for "black". If you consider yourself black then there is nothing the government can legally do to contradict you.
