Been hacked

If you mean that irritating popup to say youre hacked on internet explorer just close it or endtask and remove your cookies. They make it look soo legit

It's handy to have a backup HDD image with fresh installation of OS and applications...

I came back on this thread to see if the op has replied. Really wanted to know what exactly happened

OP still hasn't come back to us as to why he thinks he was "hacked" ... for all we know it could be a tech support scam.
Its a bit early to tell the op just to blindly format and start over.

Edit: this also doesnt seem to be OPs first runin with this https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/alias-password.980067/#post-22200729

I am wondering if the OP hasent been a victim of the current porn extortion email scams, hence the lack of info.

That is what I said lol

Even if guilty of those "crimes" - why pay someone. He/She should learn to be more careful in future ;)

I have never understood the need to make people break glass in times of crisis. Does it have some sort of cathartic effect on the one doing the breaking? Does it make it more desperate because you now have to fight through broken shards of glass - possibly puncturing an artery and bleeding to death? Why not just have a glass door that opens and a little note that says - Are you sure?

Because people are stupid, and they inherently want to press the red button if its easy to press.

They lack impulse control. I get it - I would probably push the button. Maybe. Perhaps. Not admitting anything here.
Still - making people break glass is stupid. Some people are weak. Have you watched them try and break it ?
