Beetroot

Juiced in combination with pineapple & ginger server in a 500ml glass ;)

Any other way and I won't touch it.

Boil it as you would boil potatoes... teaspoon of salt into a pot of boiling water, add beetroot and boil 'til soft.

Slice into chunks and eat as is!

Or let it cool completely, slice thinly, add sliced onion and enjoy.

Do you just prefer it that way for the taste, or does that recipe have particular health properties ?

Hmm, I did a 10 day juice diet/detox some time back and I dreaded having to drink this the first time but it actually tasted great. Seeing I got it from a detox/diet recipe I'm assuming it has health properties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beetroot#Health_benefits

The drink had a luminous freaky red colour which really impressed me :D

Oh, it will make your pee go red/pink.

That, minus the onion, and a bit of vinegar, tiny amount or sugar and salt. Either sliced or grated. Yum.

Have made honey & balsamic roasted beetroot before. Goes well with goats cheese.

I likes it natural... my wife, she does the fancy cooking!!!

We just buy the one in the jar :D You know the one already sliced...we just add it to salad

If you eat enough of it your excrement comes out redish.

... so I've been told.

EDIT: Sorry. I can't get that human centipede thread out of my mind. I have a fragile psyche. It has shaken me to the core.

Any techniques of remedying this situation would be greatly appreciated.

But I like it like my mother makes it.

Cookes it straight through with some salt as where mentioned and eat it as a savoury side dish.

Leftovers can be preserved in vinegar and sugar etc.....

you can boil them and add them to almost any salad.

I ended up roasting them in foil in the oven (nestled in some rock salt and thyme), after which I peeled them, cut them into slices (or wedges), put them in a pot, glazed them in a scoop of butter and then added a bit of cabernet sauvignon balsamic vinegar at the end to make a syrup.

Try making a salad using raw slices, along with slices of pear ... dress with some olive oil, a bit of lemon juice, pinch of grated fresh ginger and the same of garlic. Leave it in the fridge for an hour or so before serving

Sounds good...:)
