Morning,

Looking for strong sturdy belts after my 3rd one broke this month.
Where can I find something of quality? Woolworths belt was one of the ones that broke so other places would be appreciated.

Dunno where you are but find a tannery.

My last two belts were purchased from a leather merchant at the Harties flea market - the one by the ferris wheel. About 5 or so years ago, they remain in great shape.

if you're ever near the northern suburbs you can try Bryanston Organic Market

there is at least one stall there that sells really good looking leather belts

less is more

stay away from belts that look "fiddly"

you want something plain, with a simple good solid buckle (no crimped metal parts at all)

I have a Stone Harbour belt which is probably about 8yrs old but still looks like new and it is used a lot. It's one of those wider/thicker belts with heavy duty buckles & stitching. Think I got it from Edgars back then and it was relatively cheap strangely enough. Longest I've ever owned a single belt.

This is the most recent one that broke from Truworths. Looked like intertwined leather.

My dad also has belts that have lasted for ages..Nothing I've bought seems to last even close.

I just did a google and it looks like edgars still sells them, dunno if the quality is still the same but maybe go have a look. The leather is about 4-5mm thick and 40mm wide, buckle looks like something you can attach to a tow hitch.

Edit: I could be mistaken but I think mr price also does stone harbour.
