Belts!

How do you manage to break them? I have a Woolies leather belt that I've had for about 5 years and it's still fine.

I use an aggressive eating strategy myself.

Truth be told, I usually only ever have "one" of something. For example, one pair of shoes. When they start to develop holes, they will be replaced. I wear them daily, through the week. They get rest at night and on weekends when my Crocs make it out. Same with belts. Strangely, I currently have 2 belts - out of character. But, the point is, if you are like me, you too will put strain on all your clothing accessories.

Hide is usually split into layers and most of the belts these days are made from the lower levels and have a plastic coating on them.
If you find one that is made from the full-hide or top grain it will be the strongest.

That's what I said, except shorter :p

When buying a belt you should look at the end of the pin where its attached to the belt buckle, if you look at it from the side the pin shouldnt look like a human "arm and hand" thats clipped around the buckle's fixing, the pin shouldnt have a "claw" ( or a "Y" thats closed)at the end as the claw typed pins always brakes, you should look for the other types where the pin is bend over/around/ backwards , around the piece where it attaches to the buckle(looks more like a "9", it should look like a thick piece of wire thats bend around the buckle's attachment, as the claw type are some casting which will brake in a week/ month's time, even if its a woolworths belt (b.t.w. Woolworths dropped the ADDING QUALITY TO LIFE marketing slogan, probably because their clothes are also Chinese now)

Nothing of the sort..The metal clasp breaks and tears most of the leather along with it.

If you want I can make you a belt from 3 - 5 mm leather and solid brass buckle. I specialize in all leather goods.
