The actor will replace Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming untitled Batman-Superman feature for Warner Bros., the studio announced Thursday.

Affleck becomes the eighth actor to play the Caped Crusader, following Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton.

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some,” WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement.

Directed by “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder, the Batman-Superman feature will open worldwide on July 17, 2015, with Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles.

“Man of Steel,” released this past June, has earned over $650 million at the global box office.

Lol, I was under the impression he has wanted this for a while but after Daredevil the studio's where resistant to the idea.

That chop was so wooden in Daredevil, that I have serious doubts about his ability to do this.

Damn that is like replacing stark with a new person. You know who make a good batman is that odonnel guy from arrow.

Tom Hardy for batman! And any other super hero for that matter!

Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark if they ever need a new actor that franchise won't make it

This is the day the Mayans were trying to predict. They were just off by a few months.

:erm: > :wtf: > > > > :( >

If they had to choose a new Batman, Jim Caviezel would have been a much better choice in my opinion.

You people take comic book movies too seriously.

I don't get why people are crying over Christian Bale tbh. It's cool that they're using different actors - the comics always switch style when different writers are involved and batman's appearance can change from one story arc to the next. Each actor will bring their own unique spin to the role, so we get so see more iterations of a character, and hopefully, some of those are really good. As much as I enjoyed Bale, I definitely wouldn't want him playing every Batman role for the next 10 years.

You can NOT be 2 different superheros (although Batman is just a tech junky). BA was that blind dude with the cane and all of a sudden he sees well enough to be Batman... I call BS!

It's like paul and marine... visrot and Ekstasis... Something is fishy
