Hi,

What is the best 10Mbs Uncapped account? I have MWeb 4Mbps uncapped, and it is great, and I assume their 10Mbps is even better. However, I see some other ISP's (Such as OpenWeb) have cheaper offerings. Is the quality on these accounts as good as MWeb? Who is the best (with a price of < R1k pm).

Openweb Gold is awesome, but a bit more expensive.

Does your line even support 10meg first of all?

I'd actually recommend you take the 6Meg package here:

http://openweb.co.za/special.html

The Gold accounts usually run faster than their stated speeds.

The reason you see accounts run faster is because an ISP limits you to what the account speed states, if you have a 4mbit line for example your line itself will have overheads that leave you getting 3.4-3.5mbps even though you have a 4mbit account with your isp. If you had say a 5mbit line then you would get full 4mbit speeds with a 4mbit account.

My line does support 10Mps.

But I would like achieve 10Mbs speeds, not 6Mbps (or slightly faster).
Is their 10Mbps account as good as Mweb's 10Mbps account?

Lantic afterhours uncapped is only R60 a month, should get you a good 1.3tb+ a month, and you save allot

I don't want any of the dodgy (In my opinion) offerings where it runs at a certain speed at certain time and a different speed at others

JStrike I cannot agree more with the certain speeds at certain times and things like quota's it goes against my views of how an internet account should be. I can only vouch for MWeb 4mbit vs other ISP's and for me MWeb 4mbit performed better than any of OpenWeb Gold's backbones (before they would start giving problems after a week).

WebAfrica had (Not sure anymore) latency issues but when they did work they worked brilliantly however the quota system I just couldnt handle.

I'm currently on the Mweb 4Mbps Uncapped and it is excellent. So it sounds like MWeb 10Mbps uncapped is the way to go

Using Afrihost 10Meg uncapped... hitting about 250Gb / month mostly streaming Netflix, Hulu and a few others most of the day...

Get about 8mbps local and 6mbps international on speedtest.net although things like steam updates hit 10mpbs all the time...

Have never felt a throttle...

Hmm...looks interesting.
But I remember reading bad things about them. I assume your experience has been good?

Since Afrihost have moved to MTN their accounts have gone downhill. Especially for those in Cape Town as they don't have a Cape Town POP yet.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. I'm Cape Town based, so that would have been annoying
