best ADSL modem + WiFi choice

Hi there.

Since they all do the same thing and all offer WiFi as well , from the list below that Telkom provides what is the best option?

They are all Telkom branded and I'm sure can be sourced for a few hundred rands cheaper from the relevant suppliers as I sold my 4 port + wireless Planet ADSL box for R150 to my colleague as he wanted a cheapy - I bought it reconditioned behind Rectron's Montague Gardens warehouse for I think R150 about 2 years ago.

I'm now moving to a residence and Helkom has a phone line there and the wife makes national calls to family so a Closer 3 - Voice only is ordered as well as DSL 512 - self install option of course and account I must steal from the latest ISP of choice.

Can't really go wrong with the Billion 400 if you don't need VOIP
800 if you do

I don't like any of those routers to be quite honest. The Siemens router is way too expensive for normal ADSL users that doesn't make use of stuff like VoIP.

I'm quite fond of the D-Link routers, since they're quite cheap and easy to configure in bridge & PPPoE modes. You might find that the range on the D-LINK 2640U isn't that great and it doesn't offer wireless N capabilities either.

You can look at Sybaritic's & Uniterm Direct's websites for routers too. I haven't had issues with the TP-Link routers either, except that they don't have SNMP support which most users don't use either.
You can get 4 port + wireless B/G ADSL routers for reasonably cheap (R500 or less), but as soon as you go for Wireless N ADSL routers, then you're looking at like R700+, and the gigabit ethernet + wireless N ones are like R1000+.

I have the DuoPlus 300WR and very impressed with it. Documentation is its only weak point but then again if you want to use the advanced features, you would already know it. (And know how to used BUSYBOX

I see Scoop is here in the Cape.
Will take a drive down there later and go buy a modem.

For R450 this one below is a bargain especially since its compatible with 802.11 N and the B and G standards.

The price I payed since I am not a reseller was R679 VAT inclusive , not a pretty router by any standard but very functional.
Now to wait for the interfacing between my Telkom account and ADSL order to happen.
