Best Android phone with a physical keyboard

Hi all

Like the subject line.

I know someone with motor impairment in one of their hands due to a chainsaw accident, but they want to step into modern smartphone use.

Can anyone recommend an Android phone that is currently available with a physical qwerty keyboard?

Personally I don't know of any off hand, but why would he need a physical keyboard? With a smaller android device you can hold the phone in one hand and still tap the keys quite comfortably with your thumb?
 
Thanks, good idea... I did pass on that message, but she is very risk averse and non-techy, so she doesn't want to make that jump just yet.

I have a samsung galaxy chat with physical keyboard and touch screen. Awesome little phone and only1600 bucks
 
She can also get a USB OTG cable and just plug a keyboard in.
 
Besides the Galaxy Chat, I can't think off any other phone.

You don't need a physical KB with Android phones. The touch KB's available are just as speedy and you can always swap digital KB's.
 
If she can only type with one hand then a touchscreen loaded with Swype is perfect. I always type with Swype when I only have one hand free.

I know what you're saying. I also had to try convince non-techy family member to move over to touch screens. Not easy, but in the end the additional screen real estate is a huge selling point and something for her to take into consideration, depending on what she wants to use it for of course.

A few of my family members actually want touchscreen phones due to the larger screens. I recommended that they get the Huawei Y300(R1000) for the kids and they haven't being happier.

Jet, price is valid till 31 Jan, finding a store with stock may be a problem. They didn't have any till about 2 weeks ago and then my closest store got in 3 units.

'droids with 'boards are few and far between and, unless you're willing to settle for a truly craptacular screen, the (now decidedly obsolete/hard to find, even if listed) HTC ChaCha is about the best of the bunch ..locally at least. But if you're game to go out on a limb, look at the Moto PRO+/MB632.

I went through all this 'cos my SO was *ALL* about the physical keyboard phone and didn't want a full-screen device ..and then went and got an LG G2 (on which I put a slidey keyboard, which sorted the issue (and there are many from which to choose)). And the best thing about slidey keyboards is that you can use them even with a claw hand, if it comes to that, so you're likely to be better off going that route.
