Best brake pads?

Hi.

I am wanting to replace my brake pads on my chev sonic. Which brand is the best? I don’t want brakes that shriek/squeal. Thanks in advance.
 
I prefer ferodo platinum. ATE always make a noise and lots of brake dust but they are easy on the disks.
 
I use the Brembo pads hey, actually last longer than the Bosch ones does esp on the GTI . Last time when I wanted to change the dealer pads that were fitted, too much dust, I settle for Ferrado eco something on the Audi A6 and 1 year down the line still has more than 50% life on it - bear in mind car weighs 2300KG
 
I do not know what manufacturer Hyundai uses for their OEM brake pads, but on my Hyundai Elantra I did not have to replace it in the seven years that I had it. But then again, I do not rush up to stop signs necessitating hard braking, I assume this is a contributing factor.
 
Brembo is great, but you wont need it

Ferodo is good. I would go for them.

The problem with Brembo is that if you stop last minute its great as it stops however.....

Cars behind you may not stop as fast, and your boot will be pancaked. Saw that way too often.

So stock standard brakes will do.
 
For your car to keep its value, keep it at original spec. Going for fancier items, while your car depreciates will actually just make you loose more.

Unless its a Honda Jazz. They actually gain value ironically.
 
What is your style driving like? Depending on your driving/braking style and what you use your car for i.e. track days, best brakes will be different.
 
I have had various makes, from cheaper to expensive brake pads. The only time brakes start squealing, is when the pads wear down to the bolt like wear indicator which is designed to squeall. Properly installed brakes dont squeall.
 
ATE is mostly what is used as OEM
Ferodo platinum very good
Safeline also came a long way and are good pads.

That is unfortunate, I have tried a bunch of different brands and always come back to the ferodos. That said I currently have squeaky ATE in because I couldn't find ferodos but I'll make a point of sticking to them even if they have to order for me in future.
 
For years I only used Ferodos on my cars when the brakepads needed changing until a very good friend suggested I try Metelli brakepads from Masterparts. Since switching over a few years ago, that is all I use now. They're much cheaper than Ferodo, works just as well and make much less dust that Ferodos.

The leading cause of brakes squealing after replacing the pads is excessive brake dust trapped between the caliper and the rotor.
Typically when brake jobs are completed, a professional mechanic will spray brake cleaner liberally on the calipers and rotor to remove any brake dust that has embedded in between the two components. If this is not completed, the extra brake dust will be trapped between the fresh pad and the rotor. When heated, it can create an annoying squeaking noise. The best way to resolve this issue is to remove the tires, place a drip pan under the hub and spray brake cleaner along the caliper and the rotor. Let it dry for a few minutes then reinstall

i run my merc and my wifes fiat on Girlock .very nice pads .on the merc they last 12 months on the fiat around 24 months .zero squeeks or shudder

That’s a very overloaded Audi…
