Hi guys,

What would you recommend as a brand suited for a 5 star luxury eco-resort?

5.1/7.1 speaker gets for a home threatre, incl. or not incl. DVD

Well, my first choice would be the top end Bose system... can even install in walls and add other nifty stuff like garden speakers... the configuration is customisable. but even for just 5.1 id get the Bose, very nice quality.

Otherwise look at some Sony surround systems.

Now, I worked for Sony and I'm a fairly big fan of their products, but there are better systems out there for the same money. Harman Kardon comes to mind for amplification, and maybe B&W or equivalent for speakers, for a slightly higher end system. It'd probably help if we knew what the budget was though.

Yip, they're good, but not exactly cheap, which leaves on wondering whether they're really good if you can get something better for the same money ;)

That being said, you could do worse!
 
Bose? Second choice: B&O.... avg price tag, R230 000 per stereo set. I would assume even that price tag is not for the presidential suite of a 5-star hotel.

As mentioned above, Onkyo's a pretty well respected brand and you probably can't go too terribly wrong with them, so definitely something to consider.
 
For 5 star you need image first & actual quality a distant 2nd. 99% of the people visiting won't know shiit about sound quality but will recognize brands. B&O.

Budget-wise...I am not sure but once I know a brand I will contact their main office for a proposal. Might just go with one brand for home theatre (TV/projector, speakers, dvd/blue-ray etc)

Unfortunately, the sky's the limit pretty much. You get stereo speaker sets of over a R1mil a pair so splashing 2 or 3 million on a single system isn't impossible, which means you have a huge price range, so a budget would really be key to making a decision.

PC-focussed speaker setups really aren't within the scope of this discussion, which is relatively high-end home theater/stereo systems which tend to blow the Logitech systems out of the water, so I would suggest you rather start your own thread for your questions.
That being said, Logitech make some good systems in general.
