Best Card for R1000?

Whats the best graphix card i can buy for around R1000.

Used mainly for gaming ect ect...

I know there was a thread on here somewhere about card prices but i cant find it and also im not an IT intelect

also im getting a 7800GTX for 750. new... though im not sure if thats the retail price. dont think so. coz its better than the 8600GT which is about 1200

we all cant afford 3000 rand cards.I suggest what that other poster said in adding another 500 bucks.I am sitting with a 6 series nvidia and i can play call of duty4 fine.

Depends what you're playing. I play GuildWars at 1280x1024, with all settings set to max, and it's perfectly smooth.

Those have been replaced by the 3650 series, it should be similarly priced.

There's isn't a R1K card worth recommending. While some play guild wars, WOW, COD4 at the lowest settings and what not, chances are you'll wanna play more than 3 games and at this point in the PC gaming world R1K can't get you a good card at all...
Try get the cheapest 3850 you can because anything less than that is really a waste of money.

Best not to get anything until you can get about R1,8K then take it form there...
If you were willing to buy 2nd hand you could have gotten an 8800GTS 640MiB or even better and 8800GT 512MiB

If your really pressed for cash then what about a XFX 7600GT? Its about R700 or so rand new.Ive got one and i can play Call of duty 4, Crysis, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Assassins creed etc, loook abviously not with all the eye candy but its quite playableIde say the XFX 7600GT because it comes factory overclocked and it on par with the 8600GT for a few hundred bucks cheaper
