I'm done with Xiaomi. After this phone I am trying something else, but no ways I will spend 10K on a phone.

Getting tired of all the software bugs and issues with these wonderful devices and feels like with each update it is just getting worse.

Get a used iPhone 11/11 Pro, replace the battery, and you’ll have an incredible phone.

Even an iPhone XR would still give you most of the modern features for much less money and not much lost in the user experience.

It's true .

When I was 20 my father took out a contract in his name. He passed away a year later and Vodacom asked me to drop off the phone. I didn't and - well - they blacklisted the IMEI :(

Did you stop paying for it though?

If you can, try get a 12 Pro Max 256GB, it has a bigger camera sensor than the 12 Pro (smaller Pro), better battery life and that A14 Bionic chip is not too different from the A15 and A16.

Well, he did …

I had no income at that stage and he took it out as a favour.

Even if I had managed to scrape money to pay that month, I’d have been screwed soon enough as my dad took expensive contacts that I wouldn’t have been able to continue with anyway

I’m just illustrating it makes perfect sense then that they reclaim it and blacklist it and anyone who expected otherwise from a default on a contract has a very weird logic.

I didn’t say it didn’t.

The post I quoted says he heard and it was a rumour. So I was clarifying that it happens.

Though, not all of the time as my brother in the exact same case (we got our phones together) recieved the same call - but his phone wasn’t black listed.

Yeah I’m just clarifying that people seem to think it’s because the cellphone was handed over to someone else that it got blacklisted, whereas it’s the lack of payment that is the issue.

And yeah blacklisting (even when done by a normal consumer) appears to be a manual system from to user error as it often doesn’t work first time.
