Best connection type for WoW ?

At least in Boksburg and in Randburg are MTN is crap you get 800-2k

I used to play on MTN 3G in Boksburg/Germiston for about a year. Most of the time my lat was between 350-500. Every so often it took a dip but it was more than playable most of the time.

I've recently had my ADSl line installed, running with Webafrica unshaped on a 384 line and my lat is between 215 and 315 now.

Thx for all the posts everyone, however i think i have discovered why the connection to eu servers has been so bad lately:

Using http://www.speedtest.net/ i found out the following:
When pinging a local server the results are obviously great, however when pinging anything in europe (france to be precise as that is where my server is located - Alonsus EU) i get around 800ms - 1000ms.
I then tried pinging Japan (Tokyo) and got 221ms!! :O
Then New York, got 332ms !
I proceeded to ping many american, asian and european servers and they all seemed to follow the trend : Asian servers had best latency, American had 2nd best and EU servers had horrible latency. This leads me to believe that Telkom may be experiencing problems with their connection to Europe and this wouldnt be the first time, about a year ago they had the same problem: they said that the cable to europe was heavily congested and there was some sort of fault :(

Can anyone verify these findings please or if anyone is aware if Telkom is indeed having these problems?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

best solution : move to Europe.

anyways you can lower your ping with,
1) unshaped account
2) Sockscrap32 server
3) registry hack,

i get around 200-300 .

when i moved to London and applied for broadband, i asked if its unshaped or shaped? Can I get wireless or satellite??. The bloke was confused. "Its broadband, mate", he said. "you plug yer modem in the BT socket, you switch yer modem on, you switch yer pc on, and then you f***g play mate. simple as that". lol.

ROFLMAO!!! :D I love it!

Strange question has anyone tried it on a leased line? The international on a leased line is suppose to rock.

i dont know if the mtn 3g wil work at my house. im not sure how the coverage are there. can any1 please tel me where i can find that out? but i need it to be specific, not just good or bad. better yet, does any1 know how fast mtn 3g is in boksburg parkrand

How would you compare the following ISP's in terms of latency : Axxess unshaped, webafrica unshaped, openweb (semi)unshaped?

I also used BT broadband in the UK for 2 years omg i miss those day no cap and the 1mb line i had there was faster then telkoms 4mb lines. And my machine was downloading stuff from Limewire 24/7.

i dont actually use BT Broadband. Sky. Sat TV and Broadband for ÂŁ30. BT does my landline. The lines in UK are now 8mb minimum. I still dont know if its shaped or unshaped. Dont care, tbh.

They do have fair use policy regarding bandwith usage. But I think it will take about 3months of mega-gigs before they do anything.

Ok well after much investigation i decided to get http://www.openweb.co.za/fibre_adsl.php, the 3gb version.
I got it activated today and i have to say it absolutely rocks! My ping went from around 1k+ while idling not in a major city to +-450 in a full wsg with heavy pvp action on my warlock.
I've only had about half an hour to test since i still have some exams left but from what i saw it is awsum, and doesnt break ur pocket either.
I totally recommend it to whoever wants to get better ping, if it worked for my horrible line im sure it will work for anyone's.

The only drawback is that it is semi unshaped meaning that its only unshaped after hours which probly means after office hours i guess, my time of testing was around 18:30
Personally I dont rly mind as i dont play much during the day anyway :)
