I currently have a FNB gold card and love the fact I get ebucks from it. My problem is after R10k of swipes i dont get any more ebucks. Im looking to get another credit card I can use once I reach the R10k ebucks ceiling on FNB to get some points or discounts I can use else where. So far the clicks credit card looks pretty good but are there any others?

Virgin Money credit card is awesome coz there arent any transaction fees.
 
Its a tough one, because it will depend on the annual/monthly cost of the card vs the rewards that you accumulate and where you tend to spend with the card. And the last piece is information only you know.
The interest charged should also be relevant if you actually use the credit facility.

Virgin has a card free of annual/monthly charges and i believe you do get discounts at their gyms/airlines etc.
 
Upgrade to FNB platinum card, think then it is up to 20k ?
 
Beep (Standard) Bank's gold (Elite) account comes with a gold credit card. No extra monthly or yearly fees and also no transaction fees. Now having used both I can honestly say it beats FNB's system of paying each month and then having to spend a bajillion to earn it all back in virtual money that you can use virtually nowhere.

I believe their Prestige works the same.

Nedbank Greenbacks, no limit on amount. Spend on the Amex card accrues twice as many points. Otherwise SAA credit card. If you do a lot of travelling it makes sense, with free companion tickets.

And for people who say the best credit card is no credit card, it's one of the cheapest ways to transact, if you pay off in full every month, and the points more than make up for the membership fee, if you spend enough.

You can even use the Virgin Money credit card as a saving account (positive balance)

AND you can withdraw money at any ATM in the world for R12 flat rate !

I don't understand this mentality. Just because most people have no restraint, doesn't mean you can't take advantage of a credit cards rewards. Just pay it off in full each month, simple.

If you like travelling and spend 20k plus a year, the Standard Bank - British Airways credit card could be worthwhile.

Are banks in the business of giving rewards away for nothing? I think not, which seems to indicate there are far more people without restraint.
 
Discovery card is quite good if you shop at pick npay and get get discoveryt miles if you want to fly BA

That was never in dispute. But why advocate to others that credit cards are bad, it's the people that have no restraint that give them a bad name. I do all my spending on credit cards, always pay off in full. I get free flights, upgrades, cash back etc. for money that I would normally spend each month anyways.

Sure, but then why a HSBC debit card to spend here. There are better cards in the UK that allow you to spend here with no load charge or transaction fee, so basically at Visa's or Mastercards own exchange rate.

I use my FNB card to withdraw money at an FNB atm and they charge me. I use my UK card, it's free! :confused:
