I'm in the market for a second hand double cab and am considering the Nissan Hardbody Hi Rider, preferably a 2008-2009 model and am planning to spend under R200 000.

Is there anyone out there that has some knowledge on bakkies? I'll be grateful to hear people's opinion on the Hardbody and if there are better alternatives in that price bracket?

I suppose it depends on what you like in looks... Hard-Body looks nice yes, thats why every tow truck drivers has one :D I like the Isuzu as well. Don't know if you will be able to find one of those in a 2008 + model for under R200k though... 2007 maybe. Navara looks fancy but costs way more. I drive the 2009 Ford Ranger Supercab though and I'm loving it.

In 2007 I put up a quick 15000 km on horrific dirt roads in KZN in an Isuzu 4x4 Double Cab. Totally magic vehicle in every respect, and went wherever the Garmin told it without complaining, including crossing a fast flowing river with a loose bed.

She didn't let me down once, and is still in the field in North West, and I spoke to the current owner who has smacked her up over 100 k and absolutely no problems at all.

Still not a rattle or a squeak in sight either. 100 Michelin Stars from me :D

Three I can recommend are Hilux, KB and Ranger. Had some nasty problem with Land Rover...

My 2005 hardbody King Cab 4x4 has been punished for 147 000km now. And I mean punished. Do 60-70km a day over dirt tracks, construction site type terrain and launch at the beach on weekends.

I would definitely recommend a Tata Xenon as an option. Its a great size as a double cab, with good petrol consumption!
