I would like to reroll a dps class. Which one got the highest dps currently? Which one would you recommend...

Uhm the "BEST" dps class is a non-constant value in WoW. This changes all the time, Blizzard has this nack for randomly buffing and nerfing classes every patch. Between that and who gets the best gear, the best dps class never stays the same. We call it, flavor of the month :)

Currently the top dps class on a stand still and nuke fight are MM Hunters , But it is VERY dependent on the fight. for example multi target fights rogues are coming out on top now with blade flurry being a toggle ability. and mages are good on fights with a damage modifier.

so its hard to say "best dps class cata" , but the link below is a nice site that updates with Worldoflogs records and shows a nice mediam as most "Top end" world of log records are being being fed buffs , power infusion from priests and DI from locks where as physical dps are getting hysteria or watever its called and tricks of the trade. so its hard to say from WOL , but stateofdps gives a nice median or watever of AVERAGE dps of AVERAGE ppl :)

Personally im a hunter. and im coming top or near to top on all fights, but i have played for 6 years and i know my class perfectly :P

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Prep for another nerf then  Hardcasting AIS isn't Blizzard's intention

Long time loc here
I seem to struggle with heroic dps , meh
but raiding ,well im always in top 3 and mostly 1st.
I have a fellow loc who has a highter ilvl and same spec who cant come close to my dps.
Its all in the way you play, understanding the ur spell priorities and the encounters
Its not about having the bestt class

:D but its fun! , considering the nerf surv got and how terrible BM and MM are if you played them normally. We had 2 find another solution , so stacking haste and spamming 70k aim shots was the best solution! ^^

Considering that the devs want to drop the AIS damage and buff AotH, I guess BM might be the next top spec :p

Depending on the fight, I'm usually top with my Mage :p

Again, depends on the fight.

Thanks this really helps. I considering rolling a priest, would be something different. I see shadow is doing not too bad on the dps side and I should be able to level up quite fast if I dualspec on 30 and que as healer/dps. Obviously shadow would be my levelling spec, but would I be able to heal before 30 or should I rather focus on dps till I got dualspec? Also which is the better healing - holy or discipline?

You should be able to heal with a shadow spec before 30, although it won't be the best and you might need to drink a lot. I've managed to heal Maraudon as a shadow priest when the healer dropped after the one boss we needed and the rest of us went on to kill the rest. Only the last boss game me any trouble and nobody died. This was just before 4.0.3 though so I'm not too sure about how much has changed.

There isnt a best dps class, since everything gets changed each patch. and good dps comes with gear eventualy doesnt matter what class you play. I pref my assasin rogue out of all my dps chars though doing 15-20k dps avrg boss fights
And the rotation is pretty simple ... gouge , mutilate, slice and dice, mutilate (4 or 5 combo points) , rupture, mutilate (4 or 5 combo points), then envenome ... etc pretty basic dps char to play on.

Currently you cant say top dps. its very dependant on the PLAYER , if your retarded. you wont top the meters. if you know how 2 use ur class and gain every little advantage , then you will top meters with ease.

I love my kittay, and I wont recommend playing a feral dps druid. had some love once in tbc, and again for a while in wotlk, but otherwise we keep getting shafted. they have made it so easy to play its actually dull. must be like playing a paladin. so much for a spec you had to work at

o, and stay away from a melee class character. 90% of boss fights, and a lot of trash fights just fck melee over :(

A better way to have asked the question might have been, which class/spec should I not roll if I want to dps. ie which dps class/spec is currently broken.

I have been in grps where rogue, shaman, hunter, mage, paladin, warrior, warlock have all had the moments at the top of the dmg meters. There is no magic "ill start a xxx and top dmg meters". Find the class that you enjoy and invest the time to gear it up and it will be as good as any class which you try.

Quoted for truth!
