I'm looking for a decent e-commerce shopping cart solution, as he title suggests 
. I've been browsing around and doing some research and so far I've checked out Actinic, X-Cart and osCommerce.
Actinic seems to have a really decent feature set but at a premium. It also seems to have a designer version versus the Catalog and Business versions. I don't quite understand the defferences as the designer version (£350) is cheaper than the catalog version (£379), yet it supports all the features of the business version (£799)
osCommerce is free but seems to be a bit more complex to implement, which might increase time to deployment. One advantage seems to be that because it's open source there are a huge amount of plugins, modifications and customizations available.
X-Cart I only glanced at and is cheaper than Actinic, but would that mean less functionality?
I would really appreciate it if some of you could give me some advice or suggestions on these or any others e-commerce shopping card packages out there?
Particularly, stuff like ease of use/implementation, feature sets, compatibility etc. A big issue I guess would also be compatibility with web hosts and our merchant account facilities in SA.
Another alternative would be to develop one ourselves but I think that would be re-inventing the wheel and would take way too long.
