What is currently regarded as the best email program ? I was using outlook a few years ago but for about the last 3 years I'm using Incredimail. But I'm fed up with it now.

Any suggestions ?

i'm using office2010 (our company has a site-wide license).
i must say it gives me no issues to the point that i decided to use it at home. that does cost though.
for free email, i use thunderbird though i found it to be just 'average' with no special attributes other than being free.
gmail is still probably the easiest to use i think... i've had a gmail account for many years and its never had a problem.
just my two cents.

Gmail! It has everything you need... Tabs, Tags, Filters, Contacts, Calendar, Office docs, PDF viewer, etc. Plus you don't have to install it or worry about backing up your e-mail. it can import other mail accounts and forward. You can also set it up to use other e-mail addresses as the default. And it's Spam filtering is unsurpassed.

Thunderbird. If it integrated with our exchange server I would switch. For private use it is Gmail all the way!

I prefer Outlook. Thunderbird is OK. Gmail for anything other than the office. I hate Incredimail.

Do NOT use Incredimail under any circumstances!!! Besides the risk of all the spam and junk, there is no free way to export your mail or contacts.

Thank you for all the replies. Currently I use Mailwasher Pro as spam filter software for my various email addresses. Then all my emails from the different email accounts gets downloaded to Incredimail. I also have a Gmail account that also gets downloaded to Incredimail. So I'm looking for email software where I can download all my different accounts to. (Hope it makes sense)

Will also check out Thunderbird and Opera.

Gmail can check as many different accounts as you want and pull them all into the same place.

I use Outlook at work and home. Been using it for ages now. Does all I need. Will need to check out the others mentioned in here.

Used to use GroupWise at work. It had some really nifty features. Was sad to see it go.

Same here. Moving to MS was crap, servers falling over, constant database rebuilds etc but I suspect those bugs have been sorted by now.

Definitely gmail. Never have to worry about email backups/restore again.

Or crap System admins. I've been working with Exchange for 4 years now and not once had a server fall over that wasn't user error.

Thunderbird has one huge advantage if you want a dedicated email client rather than Gmail: its emails are essentially saved in plain-text format which means that no matter how far back you go, you can always read Thunderbird email even with the most basic of text readers like Notepad. This is in contrast to Outlook which locks you into a proprietary format.
