What are the best plasters, fabric or otherwise but they must not fall off when they get wet, the fabric ones have always been the most durable. Oddly enough the "waterproof" varieties are typically totally useless, when they get wet they fall off almost instantly.
I got some Band-aid fabric plasters recently, quite pricey but they are rubbish, the fabric almost immediately starts fraying and looking like sht, I've never experienced that before, they also don't stick so well but they'd be passable if they didn't fray so easily.

Elastoplast fabric is very good. Even after a shower it still sticks to me like that cheap hooker looking for more cash.

Years ago I had this stuff after a bike accident that I thought was called Micropore but Googling that now doesn't seem quite the same.

Comes in a roll instead of pre-cut but that stuff was amazing and healed wounds so much faster.

It could stay on and get wet while still breathing.

Maybe it was these Steri-Strip things but I remember having it over the whole wound to seal it, not to hold the skin together.

Almost like a cross between the two was very stretchy and then contracts after you put it on which also held it in place.

Well the "plastic" plasters are best for water.
But the best way for any plaster is to be very careful the first few hours. Don't get it wet, try not to move it too much when on fingers or toes and try not to sweat too much. The longer it stays on the better it sticks. So if you take care at the start it will start sticking properly.

They're not the cheapest, but how often are you buying plasters?
That's just a ridiculous price for 15 plasters.
Why not stop getting wet until the wound is healed?
On the tip of my index finger?

I have 3M micropore and it's excellent but it’s not always ideal for a high impact zone like a finger.

Yeah fingers are always tricky, even with plasters depending on where and how exactly.

In the past I've actually found just putting something on and then cutting the finger off a disposable glove works the best to hold things in place.

Doesn't breathe very well, but if it's dry to start with it tends to stay dry.

Often with fingers getting the bleeding to stop fully is the biggest hurdle.

I normally use super glue to close cuts on my fingers/hand but this particular injury I partially ripped the finger nail off so it needs a plaster. Spider plasters generally work really well on fingers because they have 4 "arms" that can be strategically wound around the finger.

Ouch.

Superglue is definitely a winner if and when you have it around.

I only use plaster if I am busy doing dirty jobs and need to keep the wound clean.

My standard procedure, is to use a bit of savlon, no diluting, then some toilet paper until bleeding stop, then ignore.

No issues so far.

Interesting, how big a cut can it be used on, this is definitely my kind of fix.

Well it’s what it was originally designed for the purpose, to quickly bond open wounds out in the field I think in World War 2.

I would imagine anything that doesn’t obviously require and ambulance.

The idea being you literally glue the two sides together very quickly.

But it’s definitely a two person operation in most cases. Depends where and how I guess.
