Best games this year

Assassin's Creed 2 is definitely my favourite so far. I like it more than the others above it that are rated higher.
 
Batman was definitely a step up from the normal superhero game. Call of Duty is good. Haven't played Assassin's Creed yet.
 
Uncharted was phenomenal! I am glad to see it so high up in the list. ND really deserves this one me thinks...

Been playing AC2 for the past couple of days and it is excellent (I looooved AC1) - but, after playing UC2 - it just feels like there is something missing. The storyline of AC2 isn't nearly as good as UC2.

If you have a PS3 and don't have Uncharted yet, then you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I'd go as far as saying Uncharted 2 is my favorite game ever! Just LOVED it!!
 
No Wii game in your list? That's strange.

Technically Fifa 10 is out on the Wii, but you neglected to indicate that.

This is not my list, it's a list based on Metacritic aggregate scores. Essentially the website compiles and averages game reviews from a number of sources. As a result it's a pretty objective and balanced way of looking at releases.
 
For me:

1) MW2
2) AC2
3) Forza 3

I loved AC1. Most hated it. I have to say though... I honestly like the era theme of AC1 more than AC2. I wish AC1 could have been in Italy, so that all the kinks could be ironed out there. I think AC2's gameplay with AC1 era would have been awesome.

What is UC2 like? Can someone please give me a game comparative to it?

Nice to see the PS3 taking the top. They need something to brag about in the console forum. It has been very quiet lately ;)

The PS3 also has a number of exclusive titles due for release in the coming months. These include Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Gran Turismo 5 and God of War III.

Locally the PS3 Slim is available at selected outlets for roughly R3 800, although stock levels are currently low due to high demand. Retailers have been slow to implement the standard console price cut, some of which are still selling for between R5 000 – R6 000.

Granted but these results took all platforms into account, Wii games didn't make the cut unfortunately. Heck, I'm a fan of all consoles - I just try to report objectively :)
 
Gaming is objective. What some people rate higher doesn't necessarily mean that you'll agree.

That's why right now I'm enjoying AC2 more than MW2 and Braid. They may be good in their own ways, but I enjoy AC2 more. I think that most of the quirks from AC1 have been ironed out (like waking up in the lab after every mission, having to travel to each city manually and not being able to go directly, the game being too short etc.).

What these lists do is give you an indication of which games are good. It's then up to you to choose the types of games that you enjoy playing.

1.Dragon Age Origins
2.Batman Arkham Asylum
3. Risen
4.Street fighter 4

Haven't played some of the others since there is no pc version and AC 2 will only get to play next year.

UC2 is sort of similar to Tomb Raider I guess - though I never liked Tomb raider. You're also a treasure hunter - 3rd person point of view - but it is the excellent story combined with awesome gameplay that makes this a winner. I haven't personally met one person that doesn't think this game isn't the duck's nuts. Every game I play from now on will be measured against UC. Nothing ever got repetitive (unfortunately AC2 suffers from this a bit like AC1) and it kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end.

Borrow it from a mate or rent it somewhere if you're not sure, but if you have a PS3 - get it !!!
