Best Gaming Headset Under R1000

Stay away from Corsair Headsets. I've been through 2 pairs 1500 and 2000 and both cracked in exactly the same place.
Odd. Me and my friends that use the Corsair 2000 and 2100s didn't have any cracked problems. I know with the 2000 there was a problem with the hinges that got fixed in the 2100. The only problem I had with my 2000 series was the charging connector.

My V2000 cracked and broke eventually on the hinges after about a year. It's now glued back together with masking tape around hinges. Don't have funds for new headset.

Dude, you know you can RMA it and get the 2100s? It should still be under warranty, Corsair usually offers the best warranty.

I was told that I need to ship it to the Netherlands last time and that will cost more than a new headset.
LOL! No, the supplier should do that, otherwise you can report them to Corsair themselves. Take my Corsair 2000 I had as an example. I gave it to a friend and the charging connector broke. We sent it back to the supplier/retailer (local online retail store), they sent it for testing and within a week we received a 2100 headset back. All we paid for is R90 shipping to the retailer.

Ended up buying the Corsair Vengeance 1500V2. Will hopefully arrive tomorrow :D

I wonder, will they accept a superglued headset?

Email them and ask :) Don't mention the superglue yet, just check how their warranty process works (the online retailer or whomever sold it to you). Is it possible to remove the super glue then? Otherwise just state it to them and hope for the best.

An update on my headset: After I read EmileS encouraging post to try the RMA route, I contacted Wootware where I bought it from and said I would like to RMA the headeset, which is still within warranty. I've also read on the corsair forums that a lot of other customers also glued their V2000 in attempt to avoid the hassles and downtime of the RMA process, but eventually then did go the RMA route and Corsair did replace their headsets.

I was told by Wootware to either bring it in to them or take it to Corex, the local distributor, which I did because they are closer to me. A few days after I got a reply from Wootware to say that Corex said Corsair would not cover the warranty due excessive usage and unauthorized repair. I did not accept this, why would Corsair not approve this RMA and did approve all the other cases which is exactly the same. There are mulitple threads on their forum with proof of customers that glued their headset and got it RMA'd as well. Wootware and myself has posted on their forum to get clarity on the matter from Corsair directly. They have now replied and contacted Wootware directly, so I'm waiting on the outcome of that. Here is the thread on Corsair's forum.

Seeing that Corsair did swap everyone's V2000 that cracked, regardless if the customer glued it or not, because this is a known defect with the headset, I'm sure Corsair should replace mine as well. The sole reason for the existence of the V2100 was to reinforce the materials in the hinges because of the poor quality in the V2000's materials.

I'll give an update here as well when I know more.

Glad you followed my advice :) Hopefully you get the RMA, if you do, please let me know

So it's been more than a month now since I've handed in the headset. I've been told by the retailer that the manufacturer will replace it under warranty, but distributor is struggling to do it via their normal channels. The retailer asked me if I want to I can ship it myself to Corsair for the replacement, but then I'll have to carry the shipping costs. Should this really be my problem now as the end user? The retailer where I bought it from, and the local distributor where the retailer bought it from, wants the customer to deal directly with the manufacturer. In my business the customer would have had me in court in no time if I told them this.

This is absolutely BS! The retailer is responsible to get it replaced at their cost! The only cost you can incur is sending it to the retailer itself. From there it's their own costs!

This has gone kinda off-topic but anyway. EmileS is right, it's not your problem, it's theirs.

I won't be getting headsets just yet. Waiting until December for some sales, then I'll buy a SSD, after that will probably get the Razer Tiamat. A friend of mine let me use his Skullcandy headsets for now, so until I get the Tiamat, I'm fine..
