So I'm looking around for the best GPU I can get for R2000, thing is the computer is a Core2Quad Q8300, some ****ty Intel G31 or G41 board and some dodge 400w PSU oh and it has 4GB of ram. Would it even be worth dumping R2k on a GPU if the CPU will bottleneck the GPU? Also what is the recommended PSU to have for lets say a HD6850/6870 or a Geforce 560/TI

The following is what I got so far:

Inno3D GTX560 Ti
R2,043.32

Sapphire HD5850 Vapox-X edition
R1,979.33
naprawa telewizora

Sapphire HD6850
R1,975.73

Asus EAH6870 DirectCU /2DI2S/1GD5/A DirectCu
R1,959.35

Club 3D HD6870 1GB Overclocked Edition
R1,975.73

Asus EAH6870/2DI2S/1GD5
R2,020.93

Club 3D HD6870 1GB
R2,059.60

Which one and why? please no fanboyism (NVIDIA FTW!!), I'm simply looking for best bang for buck here.

The Asus EAH6870 DirectCU /2DI2S/1GD5/A seems good, now I just need to find a place that has stock and at that price.. the only card above that's in stock is the Club3d 6870.

I would go for the 6870. It is much better bang for the buck. Found the Asus EAH6870_DC/2DI2S/1GD5/A for R1700 don't know if they have stock though (http://www.pc-direct.co.za/pEAH6870...870DC2DI2S1GD5A---ASUS-HD-6870-GDDR5-1GB.aspx )

You can see in this review: http://www.techspot.com/review/359-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560ti/page10.html that in some games the 560 takes the lead and in other the 6870 takes the lead. But what is very evident is that the 560 crumbles more at very high resolutions. Not to mention that the OC on the 6870 might give it the edge over the 560. Also the 6870 is much more power efficient. However, I don't think the 400w will cut it, since it is an el-cheapo.

When you buy a new PSU. Don't fall for those Coolermasters or other cooling brands. A lot of them don't hold up to their name. Always first check some reviews. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/page/power

The mid range ATI cards should be out around Feb/March. I'd wait for those to come out before buying anything.
