Best HDR photos

Not a fan of those - HDR does not need to have that surreal look to it.
 
I agree with bwana on this one..

HDR can achieve great results with the surreal look, but its not necessary at all.
 
Trey Ratcliff does some good stuff - both the surreal and the much more real looking type. Here. Turn your volume down before hitting that link.

Some time back ldmelsa sent me a link to a page with some really nice real-looking HDRs. ldmelsa, do you still have that link?

IIRC years ago I used his promo code to buy Photomatix.
 
Not a fan myself. Used to sorta like the good ones, but now there are so many dodgy HDR images going around, that I actually despise them... and it looks like the "colouring" was done by 5 year old children :D

Often people seem to forget that HDR can just be a means of expanding on your camera's dynamic range. Chances are if you're only doing a ±1 EV then it aint HDR - especially if one RAW file can do ±2 all on its own.

As far as I'm concerned you only need HDR if what you're shooting actually has a high dynamic range. :D

Seen a few of them already - still beautiful work. If you are gonna "doctor" your photos on the computer you might as well over do it a little for the wow factor. Photomatix 64bit is pretty sweet for just that :p
 
People like these give HDR a bad name - you can achieve an epic image without all the gloss etc hDR feel
