Hi,

Which company offers the best car insurance package?

What are points to consider when looking for an insurance provider? (Excess? Ease of payouts?)?

I'm quite happy with Naked. They are by far the cheapest insurer, at least for me.

I enjoy that it is app based so no call centres etc. I've claimed, they paid out easily.

If you don't go with them, at least get a quote from them as I am sure it will provide you a cheap quote that you can at least use to negotiate elsewhere.

same, have 2 cars on Naked so far, MUCH MUCH cheaper, havent claimed yet, except for windscreen claim,
that they had some weird excess, where I managed to get them to fix a chip for cheap, and not replace the entire windscreen.

I went with King Price on one of my policies as Naked decided to price gouge on anything with a B58 engine and nobody else could provide a sensible quote.

The absolute worst part of the insurance industry is this country is the backward-ass insistence on these long winded calls with a contact centre drone. Nobody with any kind of serious job has time for that.

Whether you purchase at the end of all that or not, be assured your data is sold to various spam companies, regardless of whether you have consented.

Santam - ease of payouts.
I use
They gave me Santam policies for my car and house.

If you go through a broker they get you a decent premium, and when there is any issue you deal with them and they sort it out.

Been with them over 20 years.

Absolutely, Santam through a broker is the best.

For once we agree on a provider.

King Price about to be tested.

Initial signs are not great. You go to the trouble of filling out a claim on their application and it is worthless until some contact centre drone deigns to call you and repeat everything again. This time they failed to call (being South Africa, there is no voicemail or text message either, way too much trouble clearly).

Incident happened on Friday night, I called this morning to share a new piece of information (police report number) and found nothing at had been done but their system records that an attempt to contact me was made.

At every turn you're condescended to in being reminded of Ts&Cs - some sort of snivelling attempt to decline the claim.

Not Mutual and Federal, now OM Insure. I had no excess with them, yet they hiked my premiums by 110% when an idiot drove into the back of my parked car, and now they announced, they will keep the premium the same but will slap on an excess of R5000.

Outsurance and Santam are well rated, however I would prefer to deal with SANTAM, asking Outsurance to send you a policy document before you agree is a no go. They wont send you any fine print.

And this is why I have a broker.

I take it you use them, have you tried other insurers in the past to compare them with?
Tried a few insurers before moving to them.

Had a few claims over the years the first claim happened within the first week of switching over to them within the same week money was on account so couldnt have had better service.
Claims ranged from cars to house hold items ZERO issues
