Hi Guys

What is the best internet package out there? I am in Centurion and currently with 8ta (which is next to useless, I am concerring cancelling my contract with them).

Cheers

Lol... Neotel if you can, but chances are so slim don't bother.

Realistically; ADSL is your best bet. Wireless wise... not so much. Maybe iburst, but it can get quite expensive and it is very coverage dependent. Expect to buy an antenna too if you go with ibubbles.

If you have decent coverage Iburst is the most cost effective, especially their 10+10G for R200pm.

I have 8ta 10 gigs and I upgraded my modem to b683 will not change currently.

Whatever you do, don't go for a data contract, unless you can afford to be bitten by the Out Off Bundle Shark. Would have recommended 8ta but you don't have coverage, next best bet is Cell-C, then Vodacom, very happy with my B683 router for connection purposes.

As far as I know once your data is depleted you're done for the month, it doesn't automatically go into OOB rates.
so how are you 'bitten'.

For pre-paid yes, for contract no, at least none of those that I have had. Top-Up contracts from Vodacom are only contracts that I can vouch for, as not switching over to OOB rates.

Every time I see the thread title I wonder if more internets have appeared since the last time I checked.

8ta stops you automatically when you have 1MB left. You must specifically disable the function on the self-service website for it to go into OOB rates.

I'm sure it's 3GB/mnth uncapped, then throttled after 3GB

This is correct yes, gets throttled to 356kbs after the 3gb, which is still enough for downloads (not the fastest, but still a bargain) and I even do some online gaming on Euro servers and get latencies between 200-400ms with it
