Hey Guys
Anyone on Octotel in Tableview/Blouberg have an ISP they can recommend?

Been with Cool ideas, and Supersonic, wasn't great, so looking for greener pastures. FYI I'm stuck with Octotel since Telkom only has a 4meg ADSL lines and wireless is not an option since I work from home so need at least a 20meg line.

Thanks

You most likely got issues on the Octotel network so no matter the ISP you in the same boat. Got friends in cape town who are with OCtotel and always have issues lines drops atleast once a day etc and they have been with about 3-4 ISP's all the same.

Im with cool ideas and never ever have issues although my FNO is MFN. The most i have had is a routing issue with some traffic going to NY instead of the UK. But the cool thing is that PB will sort it out for you. Try get that sorted with Afrihost you gonna need to show them your masters in BScIT before they even take you seriously as a joke.

In the end of the day see what other people around you have got and if they have no issues then go with that.

Good morning.

Feel free to send me your cell number and email address and I will arrange for a consultant to contact you to discuss options.

Thanks

I'm with https://www.atomicaccess.co.za/ - which has been stable - and the support ia good, they helped me when my then ISP, Cool Ideas - just ignored all communication.

Ocotel itself does seem to have issues though.

I have nothing against you or rodent (probably would have been long gone if it weren't for you ). The fact remains that support has some bad apples that struggle to assist clients so my best assumption would be they ask somebody that does know resulting in delays. Second reason being the economy squeezing down on everyone so getting the same speeds for a cheaper price is a massive win.

Well realistically as an ISP we shouldn't have to deal with FNO network flaws, and we didn't in the early days, so we now have to gear support to troubleshoot to the point of building a case against the FNO to do something.

And in pretty much every single case I have personally taken to said FNOs just gets ignored. A local speedtest is all they are interested in hence why we have had to try implement workarounds. Putting all the effort in getting our first line support to be network engineers isn't a resolution.

Regarding pricing we are about R8-10 more expensive on the entry level packages and cheaper on the higher?

Sorry to hijack this thread but would be pointless to create a new one for same question. I'm also looking for a decent ISP on Octotel as the Afrihost route went bust cause they couldn't confirm my ID even though I sent a clear colour picture of my ID to them that was certified by the police. Any recommendations welcome.

There is no such thing as a decent ISP on Octofail. The problem is not with the ISP. So whether you go with Vox or with CISP, or anyone else really, you will get the same (or slightly worse) result.
I haven't followed this Octofail BS for months, but I believe it hasn't been resolved (no surprise)

And here I thought it was limited to the ISP then, pity there's only Octofail my side so let's put it like this, which ISP would I get the better deal with in terms of router received, value adds and so on
